All-round Operations Specialist

What’s the role

We are seeking talented individuals to join our team in Rotterdam. Our team handles a variety of processes and operational tasks that are integral to the Trading & Supply (T&S) business.

This position offers a great opportunity for a professional growth and development within the T&S business. The role is office-based, with three to five office days a week, depending on the assigned tasks. Our team environment is collaborative and dynamic, providing a supportive space for learning and career advancement.

What you’ll be doing

The team's activities are divided into three main areas: documentation, interface solutions and non-standard operational roles.

1. Documentation: This involves two key tasks:
   • Processing Bills of Lading: Ensuring all necessary shipping documents are accurately processed and compliant with regulatory requirements.
   • Generating Export Documents: Preparing and managing export documentation to facilitate smooth international trade operations.
2. Interface Solutions: This area focuses on identifying and resolving interface errors, developing and maintaining KPI dashboards, and ensuring seamless integration between different systems. The goal is to enhance operational efficiency and provide accurate performance metrics.
3. Non-Standard Operational Roles: These tasks include managing stock and supply operations, coordinating jetty scheduling, and handling other unique operational challenges that arise. This requires a flexible and proactive approach to ensure smooth logistics and supply chain management.

• Language Skills: Proficiency in English language skills
• Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy in documentation and processes
• Effective planning and organization skills to manage multiple tasks and priorities
• Commercial Mindset: Understanding of commercial principles and ability to apply them in operational tasks
• Willingness to assume ownership and accountability for tasks and responsibilities

Functional Competencies

• Compliance Control and Risk Management: Knowledge of compliance control and risk management principles
• Knowledge of supply chain contracts would be an advantage
• Knowledge of trading operations and documentation processes
• Being able to work in a fast paced, high performing environment and be able to deliver quality work under pressure

STR has one of the largest Trading Operations teams and collaborates closely with its other Trading hubs in Houston, London, Dubai, and Singapore. The Trading & Supply department (T&S) is responsible for the supply chain of different products such as Middle Distillates, Mogas, Chemical Products, Fuel Oil, and Jet. T&S has the primary responsibility of managing and optimizing the physical supply chain and creating value through proprietary trading. Our goal is to deliver the right product to the right place on time and maximize the overall margin potential across the different lines of businesses and create value for the Shell bottom line.
