The role

Damen Naval is seeking multiple highly skilled (Senior) Technical Author Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for creating, updating, and managing comprehensive technical documentation for our vessels and systems. Your work will involve writing user manuals, maintenance manuals, test protocols, and business processes, ensuring clarity and accuracy in describing various aspects such as functions, requirements, layout, components, modes, security, and maintenance.

Key accountabilities

  • Author technical documents in a structured environment, adhering to prescribed formats.
  • Collect and structure technical and logistic information from diverse sources, including texts, drawings, diagrams, lists, specifications, manuals, 3D models, P&IDs, colleagues, and reports.
  • Create system-level technical documentation based on input from Engineering.
  • Adapt illustrations as necessary to enhance documentation clarity.
  • Enter information into software systems in compliance with international standards S1000D and S2000M.
  • Deliver Interactive Electronic Technical Publications (IETP).

Skills & experience

  • Bachelor or Master degree and experience with Content Management Systems and structured documents using XML/DITA/S1000D.
  • Knowledge of complex systems and standards such as S1000D, S2000M, S3000L, and Simplified Technical English (STE).
  • Ability to efficiently differentiate between primary and secondary issues, ensuring concise and precise writing.
  • Enthusiastic team player who takes initiative and actively participates in product development.
  • Excellent command of English, both written and verbal.
  • Excellent references, as a security screening is part of the hiring process.
  • Permanent EU citizenship and passport are both required. Candidates with EU (work) visa or with (also) a non-EU nationality and/or passport are not eligible given the requirements imposed by the military nature of our projects.

What we offer

  • A competitive salary aligned with permanent staff.
  • Travel allowance of €0.23 per kilometre.
  • Flexibility to work from home up to two days a week.

This temporary assignment is exclusively offered on a secondment (detachering) or temporary employment contract basis. Freelance or ZZP agreements are not considered due to current Dutch legislation.

Please note that due to the military nature of our projects, only candidates who have permanent EU nationality can be considered for vacancies at Damen Naval. Unfortunately, we are not allowed to process candidates who (also) have a non-EU passport or nationality.
