Your impact at MUFG

Inbound GSB Team in MBE is responsible for managing subsidiaries of our key corporate relationships located in MBE covered countries, generating cross sell in conjunction with Product Offices, and managing the credit portfolio and associated tasks. The team provided dedicated client coverage across a broad range of sectors including (but not limited to) Healthcare, Natural Resources, TMT, Transportation, General Industries and Infrastructure.

You will act as a primary relationship manager for a designated group of sophisticated corporate clients forming the subsidiaries of multinationals active in MBE covered countries and provide support to the Global Relationship Managers (GRM’s) with a view to achieving overall revenue growth and product cross sells. You will take direct responsibility for the origination and execution of specific corporate transactions, projects and will require a significant amount of internal documentation preparation, review and processing work, problem solving and business opportunity tracking. The role will involve mentoring, training and task delegation to Associates and Analysts.

You will be responsible for your allocated profit target and the management, monitoring, building and developing a designated portfolio of existing customers and/or prospective customers, with a focus on credit, operational risk and cross sell opportunities in order to achieve and enlarge Profit Target of MBE. You will be the point of contact for both internal and external colleagues and customers.

Function positioning

The function is part of Corporate Banking Division and it manages the non-Japanese inbound clients as part of GCBD (Global Corporate Banking Division)

You will report to the Director, Head of Inbound Business or in absence to the Managing Director, Head of GCBD, BENELUX and Head of GSB EMEA. Furthermore there is a strong link with Global Subsidiary Banking Units in EMEA and globally.

The role includes the following:

  • Demonstrate active Relationship Management and effective marketing of designated customers to include strong and effective partnerships with all stakeholders including Global relationship Mangers (GRMs), Credit, Products,
  • Manage, develop and grow a portfolio of existing and targeted new GSB Inbound clients in line with bank's credit policy and onboarding criteria and monitoring a designated portfolio of existing customer relationships in order to identify and satisfy the operational customer needs in the most appropriate way and in compliance with the Bank’s internal requirements
  • Origination and execution of customer transactions and to actively market corporate and investment banking products provided by MUFG Group. Including organising Deal Screening materials, if required, to meet business case/ RORA and discuss exposure requirements with GRMs and preparing marketing materials in conjunction with Product Offices for pitch books at customer meetings.
  • Preparing customer call reports following customer meetings and conference calls to ensure accurate record keeping and to ensure there is thorough follow up.
  • Close involvement in transaction reporting for marketing and credit monitoring purposes, and to prepare timely event memos for senior management for early warning heads up for major transactions or credit problems. Maintain a pipeline reflecting the stages of new business opportunities.
  • Close involvement in the preparation of credit applications from a business promotion point of view and responsibility for all linked processes including liquidity application and overall quality control. Negotiate terms and conditions of credit applications in consultation with GRMs and all stakeholders and prepare the proposal in order to seek credit approval. Ensuring robust credit quality is maintained, credit papers are of highest quality possible and credit risk managed within parameters set.
  • Ownership of regional Account Planning for the customer base to ensure that cross sell is effectively achieved and monitored. Manage and monitor business plans for the portfolio in order to meet customer profitability requirements and business objectives including NOP, RoE enhancement, Customer Classification Category and Balance Sheet Management.
  • Acting as the primary point of contact for technical and client related issues within your portfolio and liaise with other stakeholders to seek resolution and / or escalating as required. Liaising with internal counterparts, especially Global Relationship Management office of clients HQ to gather relevant information to support decision making and planning.
  • Assisting with general projects as they may arise as directed by team head/senior management.
  • To scope, review and implement legal and other documentation ensuring compliance with Bank and Regulatory policy, KYC, in order to minimise risk. Supporting KYC outreach and review, ensuring timely completion of periodic reviews.
  • To consult with Legal, Credit, Tax and Compliance and take appropriate commercial decision in co-operation with business head to review, negotiate and implement legal documentation including loans, ensuring full compliance with Credit, Sanctions, Bank and Regulatory Policy and other Applicable Policies.
  • To timely collect, analyse and interpret financial data on existing and prospective customers in order to maintain a good insight in the customers’ financial standing, which entails amongst others the making of credit-synopses, and to relay this through so that the bank’s position can be optimally monitored and safeguarded.
  • To attend and represent the bank at internal and external events including banker’s meetings, treasury fairs, client events, and also to participate in CSR events.
  • Provide advice, guidance and coaching to junior team members, sharing best practice across the EMEA GCIB Coverage teams
  • Liaising with other banks and legal counsel on syndicated facilities.

In order to be successful in the role, you will need the following:

Skills and experience:

  • A strong intellectual and professional background equivalent to a WO / HBO level, ideally with senior expertise in economics or administrative education.
  • Ideally few years of experience in Relationship Management/Client Coverage/Subsidiary banking or Product Area/Commercial Department
  • Good verbal and written communication skills in English is essential. Dutch or any other languages of advantage
  • Required knowledge and experience with relevant products offered including Transaction Banking, Working Capital Solutions, Forex and Derivatives, Debt Capital & Loan Markets, Aircraft Finance, Commodity Finance, ECA Finance and Project Finance. Credit knowledge is essential
  • Experienced with applicable legislation and regulation, including KYC/Wft.
  • Social skills are required to maintain good internal and external contacts. A co-operative spirit, a pro-active attitude and own initiatives are essential as well as a service-minded approach. Besides that, flexibility and communication (advisory, consulting) skills and convincing power are important.
  • Profound understanding of European markets area and related products and regulations.
  • Ability to promote a strong risk and compliance culture both within the bank and local regulatory through exhibiting behaviours, competencies and capabilities.
