Our team is part of ING Corporate Investments and is the center of expertise for all tailor-made financial solutions related to sustainable businesses, ranging from subordinated debt to minority equity stakes. In addition, Sustainable Investments plays a central part in ING’s strategy by enabling our clients with their sustainable transition.

Job description:

In this role you will play a key role in the structuring and execution of complex sustainability-focused equity and debt transactions. The job involves:

• Acting as subject matter expert, thereby supporting knowledge and expertise building related to new sustainable business models and markets across ING’s global network;
• Preparing complex financial models and credit/investment proposals as well as coordinating internal approval processes;
• Assuming responsibility for output generated by junior staff (e.g. presentations, market- and financial analyses, internal reporting, shareholder meeting preparation);
• Strengthening our network by engaging with (prospective) clients, external advisors (e.g. corporate finance/debt advisors, lawyers, consultants) and co-investors in respect of origination and execution of transactions;
• Collaborating with our internal relationships within Wholesale Banking (i.e. Capital Markets & Advisory and Sector teams) and ING’s Business Banking franchise;
• Proactively contributing towards the team’s origination efforts in identified areas like circular economy, energy transition and water management; and
• Enhancing our internal & external visibility by putting the Sustainable Investments initiative on the map for employees, clients, peers, and other stakeholders.

Who are we looking for?

A candidate who can support us in expanding Sustainable Investments.

• A (post)graduate degree in Finance, Economics or Law from a top-tier university;
• 6 - 10 years of relevant work experience in a transaction driven and client facing environment;
• Intrinsic motivation to “dig deep” and truly understand sustainable technologies, companies and underlying market dynamics;
• Solid understanding of both debt- and equity products;
• Excellent numerical, modelling, and analytical skills;
• Strong planning, time management and organizational skills;
• A profound understanding of the Bank’s organization and (approval and other) processes and in-depth knowledge of other high value products within the Bank;
• Extensive experience with Excel and Powerpoint;
• A commercial, pro-active and entrepreneurial mind-set with the willingness to go the extra mile;
• A proven team player who knows that cooperation within your team and across ING departments will improve the Bank’s client offering; and
• Fluency in English with basic command of Dutch with excellent verbal and written communication skills.

The initiative forms part of ING’s wider sustainability strategy, which aims to accelerate sustainable businesses in areas including the energy transition and the circular economy. In order to create a diversified portfolio, we received a EUR100 million commitment from ING that will be gradually invested over time. Sustainable Investments is part of Wholesale Banking.
