About the role

We’re looking for a highly motivated Food Safety & Quality Assurance AD, Int’l Supplier FSQA- Grocery & Convenience, who is strategically and analytically minded. We need someone with a proven track record of elevating and embedding food safety & quality culture and processes throughout a complex organisation. Reporting to the VP of International FSQA, Sustainability & Packaging, you will be tasked with developing and executing a long term strategy for the Grocery & Convenience team, elevating it beyond mere food safety compliance and achieving a level of exceptional quality that delights HelloFresh customers.

Our international FSQA Grocery & Convenience team collaborates closely with International teams based in Berlin as well as local teams across 10 markets and 17 production sites. It covers supplier compliance, establishing standards and controls, as well as ensuring the safety and quality of ingredients throughout the supply chain from Farm/Producer/Manufacturer to inbound, until the box reaches the customer through the delivery network.

As meal kits remain HelloFresh's core business, the company is also diversifying into new verticals such as Ready-to-Eat and Ready-to-Heat meals. Given its status as a nascent vertical, establishing robust standards from the outset is essential to facilitate HelloFresh's successful expansion.

This role will actively influence various stakeholders, fostering close relationships to drive business wide initiatives and impact.

What you'll do:

• Ensure all FSQA risks are understood and that prioritised strategies are developed and implemented across the international business with clear communication to relevant stakeholders
• Enhance product quality and compliance by collaborating closely with DC FSQA operations to address and resolve escalated issues (e.g. those raised via NPS) from distribution centers
• Provide technical expertise and guidance on all relevant matters linked to Supplier Operations in the category, to ensure legal compliance and build internal capability by sharing knowledge, raising awareness and accountability amongst relevant teams
• Develop and communicate our food safety & quality strategy programs to ensure they remain fully relevant and effective at risk mitigation, whilst driving systemised quality improvements within the category
• Establish and maintain standardized processes and controls across the category, to ensure consistency and compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements, and to evolve supplier management practices to elevate product quality
• Lead the HelloFresh FSQA International compliance program implementation for the category
• Ensure data analytics is used for decision making, by utilizing and further evolving key business metrics such as quality errors, supplier compliance, food safety complaints, NPS score and Trustpilot reviews
• Work closely with other FSQA teams across international to align and implement our international FSQA strategy, OKRs and KPIs
• Collaborate with the culinary and product, procurement, packaging, operations and logistics teams to drive improvements to product and operational standards, while also working with the sustainability, PR, Legal and Customer Care teams on strategic topics
• Lead the business crisis management team when incidents linking to Food Safety occur, supporting business continuity and customer, employee and brand protection
• Build strategic relationships with industry stakeholders and relevant authorities such as the GFSI and Global GAP, representing the company when required
• Keep up to date with future legislative changes and industry best practices, incorporating this thinking into our systems, processes and category strategies
• Support new country and vertical launches, developing strategies to manage risks including Ready-to-Eat food manufacturing
• Elevate, drive and embed a food safety and quality culture throughout all teams
• Manage and develop a team of highly motivated FSQA employees, ensuring resource is sufficient to support activities across the business (e.g. tenders, NID/EID)

What you'll bring:

• A degree in Food Science or a similar subject
• An in-depth working knowledge of food safety and quality management systems (HACCP, GFSI, SEDEX etc.)
• Proven experience in a leadership role within an FSQA function, ideally across some or all of manufacturing, supply chain, and retail environments
• Ideally experience with category-specific food manufacturing
• Confident stakeholder management skills and ability to influence and communicate at all levels, flexing your style to different audiences
• Strong leadership and communication skills
• Experience building strategies with demonstrated ability to drive and implement impactful change
• Highly organized, detail-oriented with the skills to manage multiple projects
• Excellent data analysis and understanding capabilities
• Willingness to travel
