About this role
The Retail Marketing manager is responsible for owning the execution of seasonal marketing plans for our DTC owned and operated full-price and outlet stores, by developing and executing seasonal marketing strategy with the purpose to drive traffic and increase sales. You manage 1 FTE (retail marketing professional), responsible for the UA Factory House fleet (outlet).
In this position, you are responsible for the direction and execution of multiple retail marketing projects simultaneously across our owned full-price and outlet channels, from design to implementation.
You work with internal cross-functional departments (DTC Operations, Global & EMEA retail marketing, Brand marketing, Visual Merchandising, Store Design, Merchandising, Sales) and external stakeholders, such as production and design agencies and UA vendors; to ensure campaign- and instore executions are delivered on time, in scope, within budget & meeting UA’s quality standards.
Your Impact
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Planning & Strategic mindset
- Develop and manage yearly retail marketing strategy for full price doors (6) and factory house fleet (50+) for EMEA owned and operated channel
- Provide direction on regional executional marketing plans and calendars (Go-To-Market) for full-price doors and promotions for full-price and off-price
- Improve ways of working based on evolvement of the retail business, within the marketing team and cross-functionally
- Develop a POV on the channel organization, how to sustainably support the DTC business and drive changes needed
Execution Excellence
- Manage yearly retail marketing budget for own & operated full price and outlet doors (full-price and outlet store budgets)
- Lead retail marketing support for store openings & collaborate with brand marketing on activations
- Lead the process for the campaign planning and execution, including implementation by third parties
- Proactively drive cost and operational efficiencies with third party vendors
- Maintain database development and drive improvement with store-specific requirements on signing, language requirements, and sizing of in-store marketing displays and graphics
Communication & Development
- Manage and develop 1 FTE: retail marketing professional, responsible for the UA Factory House fleet (outlet stores)
- Align instore retail marketing activations & seasonal highlights with ecomm planning & activations
- Support the omni team on channel needs & input for seasonal creative and promotional briefs
- Lead retail marketing standards in store throughout training & guidelines with DM’s and store managers, in collaboration with VM
- Drive seasonal and in-season information & feedback sessions with instore teammates
- Provide feedback & propose improvements of seasonal campaign directives and in-store activations
Qualifications
- Education - A bachelor's degree in marketing or business, or related studies is preferred
- Experience – Minimum of 7 year’s experience working in retail and marketing to lead high-impact marketing activations for stores with clear objectives and expected results
- Management skills – experience or proven ability to manage and develop direct reports
- Strong strategic skills to collaborate cross-functionally and influence stakeholders to drive business improvements
- Organizational skills to coordinate planning across multiple teams and sales markets
- Good analytical skills to be able to measure performance; strong in decision making
- Communication skills – ability to communicate to diverse teams of people and suppliers and get the most from their expertise
- Retail knowledge – Understanding of EMEA Retail market environment: how customers like to buy, the purpose of stores (in relation to online), and understanding of competitor landscape
- Creative affinity – understand the development and trends in retail & brand marketing and can/aspires to translate this to UA execution development
- Fluent in English, any additional language skills are considered a plus
