The CRH Netherlands tax team forms part of the CRH Global tax function and provides support to the CRH Netherlands and Belgium companies by ensuring the tax affairs are proactively managed in an acceptable and appropriate manner.

Role Overview

The Corporate Tax Specialist will assist the Corporate Tax Manager with the following:

  • Monitor and evaluate Dutch and Belgian law changes and assess their impact on the CRH Group, providing practical guidance to relevant stakeholders.
  • Support international tax projects by contributing local insights from the Netherlands and Belgium within the Global Tax team.
  • Assess the tax implications of commercial transactions, restructurings, and financing activities across the group.
  • Assist with corporate tax compliance and reporting in the Netherlands and Belgium, with primary responsibility for group related tax legislation, including transfer pricing.
  • Contribute to tax accounting processes, including tax provision and disclosure.
  • Build strong relationships with internal teams to increase tax awareness and ensure timely involvement in business decisions.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Assist the Corporate Tax Manager with the preparation of the group reporting numbers.
  • Support impact assessment of new legislation on the CRH Group.
  • Assist the CRH Global tax team to explain complex tax issues and their impacts to non-tax professionals within the group.
  • Assist with the CRH Group’s ongoing compliance with international transfer pricing regulations.
  • Assist with the CRH Group’s responses to any Tax authority's enquiries which may arise.
  • Manage the tax implications of the CRH Group’s ongoing corporate rationalisation programme.
  • Monitor and manage the ongoing compliance.
  • Assist the Corporate Tax Manager with tax due diligence on M&A activity.
  • Assist with tax controls for SOX.
  • Review of current and deferred tax calculations for the statutory accounts in line with the agreed audit timetable.
  • Assist the wider Global CRH tax team members with ad-hoc requests.
  • To understand and comply with all health and safety rules.

Individual Competencies

  • Ability to develop/maintain effective professional relationships at all levels of the organisation.
  • Ability to understand and assess technical issues and explain to non-tax trained individuals.
  • A self-starter who is willing and able to proactively engage with other teams.
  • Good priority management able to effectively manage long lead times with the flexibility to respond to changes in legislation and business priorities.
  • Ability to identify and communicate opportunities for continuous improvement.

Experience / Education

  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience at a tax advisory firm.
  • Recently qualified ACA (or similar).
  • Good basic experience of the Dutch and/or Belgian corporation tax regime in either practice or industry.
  • Experience of transfer pricing and other international tax matters would be an advantage.
  • Good numeracy and analytical skills.
  • Good understanding of current Government compliance requirements and broader finance/business impacts of corporation tax.
  • (Desirable) Master in Fiscal economics or Fiscal law.
