About the role

This position serves as a category lead in the Global Raw Material team, responsible for strategy and cost optimisation of key critical commodities, including Propellants, Phosphonates, Glycol ethers, PVOH, among others. The portfolio covers both health and hygiene business units and oversees a spend of approximately £175M, engaging with several senior stakeholders within the organisation and a strategic supplier base spread across various geographies. The role involves close collaboration with Supply, Regulatory, Quality, Research & Development, Finance, and Marketing functions.

Your responsibilities

• End to end responsibility for the categories.
• Full ownership of Commodity Risk Management programme.
• Development of strategic relationships with key partners.
• Design long-term plans to optimise the supply of main materials.
• Drive innovation and cost-reduction projects.
• Implement supply resilience initiatives to protect Net Revenue growth.
• Keep tracking of regulatory and quality implications across the portfolio.
• Interact with senior stakeholders across other functions: Quality, R&D, Supply and Finance.
• Lead and develop direct reports.

The experience we're looking for

• Robust experience in procurement, particularly with commodities, in a global setting.
• Proven track record in designing and implementing successful procurement strategies.
• Proven track record handling categories and delivering strategic improvements.
• Skilled in negotiation and contract management, coupled with excellent supplier relationship abilities.
• Strong analytical mindset, adept at decoding market trends and their implications.
• Outstanding financial acumen. Knowledge of hedging processes is a plus.
• Effective communicator and collaborator who excels in stakeholder engagement.
• Knowledgeable about procurement policies and the intricacies of commodity markets.
• Excellent written and oral communication in English.
