About the Aviation Finance Team

The Aviation Finance team is part of the Global Aviation Finance Office (GAFO), operating within the Corporate and Investment Banking Division for EMEA. GAFO is MUFG's first sector vertical team with oversight of all aspects of the aviation business within the Bank, connecting aviation finance teams across EMEA, Asia, and the US to deliver seamless and consistent global service.

Building on strong performance throughout COVID, the Bank is expanding its aviation finance platform, creating exciting opportunities for growth and development. GAFO operates as a flat organization where all members have regular access to senior management and the opportunity to shape the future direction of the team.

Your impact at MUFG

Join our dynamic Aviation Finance team as a Working Student and become an integral part of one of the most exciting sectors in banking. This role offers exceptional exposure to aviation finance transactions, client relationships, and the opportunity to work alongside industry experts in a truly global environment.

As part of our team, you will gain hands-on experience in:

  • Transaction Support: Assist with deal pricing, structuring, and execution across various aviation finance products
  • Client Service: Support client-facing activities and contribute to building strong relationships with airlines, lessors, and aviation companies
  • Market Analysis: Contribute to fleet valuations, market research, and industry analysis
  • Documentation: Support preparation of credit papers, business screening memos, and client presentations

Key Responsibilities

Core Operational Support:

  • Prepare and format Business Screening Memos (BSMs) and credit documentation for aviation finance transactions
  • Download and organize fleet valuations, aircraft pricing data, and market intelligence from industry platforms (e.g. Ascend)
  • Support deal pricing activities and preparation of financing proposals for client presentations
  • Create and maintain PowerPoint presentations for client meetings and internal discussions

Administrative Excellence:

  • Coordinate transaction documentation and maintain deal tracking systems
  • Support meeting scheduling, minute-taking, and follow-up activities for client engagements
  • Assist with administrative aspects of deal booking and portfolio management
  • Maintain team databases, market intelligence files, and transaction records

Research and Analysis Support:

  • Conduct industry research on aviation markets, airline performance, and aircraft values
  • Assist with financial analysis of aviation companies and transaction counterparties
  • Support preparation of market updates and sector analysis for internal stakeholders
  • Help maintain competitive intelligence and market positioning analysis

Cross-functional Collaboration:

  • Work closely with Credit, Risk, Operations, and Legal teams on transaction execution
  • Support communication between Amsterdam team and global GAFO offices in London, New York, and Tokyo Assist with regulatory reporting and compliance documentation
  • Contribute to team meetings and strategic planning sessions

In order to be successful in the role, you will need the following

Essential Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled as a full-time student with interest in or affinity with Aviation, Finance, Business, Economics, or related field
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Excellent proficiency in PowerPoint for creating professional presentations
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous internship or work experience in banking, finance, or aviation industry
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Excel for data analysis and financial modelling
  • Understanding of financial markets and corporate finance principles
  • Knowledge of aviation industry dynamics, aircraft types, and leasing structures
  • Experience with financial modelling and data analysis tools
  • Multilingual capabilities (particularly German, French, or Dutch)
  • Interest in pursuing a career in aviation finance or specialized lending
