At a Glance
We are looking for a strategic and hands-on Regional Data Manager Europe to join the Clearing Data Management Center of Excellence (CoE). In this role, you will lead the implementation of our global data framework across the European region, driving adoption of data governance, quality, and literacy while ensuring regional alignment with global objectives.
You will manage a small but impactful team, represent Europe in global data initiatives, and act as a key enabler of our data-driven transformation. This role requires strong stakeholder engagement across business and technology, a deep understanding of clearing and its data, and a proactive approach to solving difficult challenges.

Your Job
As a member of the Clearing Data Management CoE, the Regional Data Manager Europe is responsible for implementing the global data framework, ensuring alignment with both global strategy and local regulatory and business needs. This role is pivotal in driving data governance, quality, and culture throughout the region.
Key responsibilities include:
Regional Implementation & Leadership
- Lead the rollout of the global data framework roadmap, tailoring approaches to local requirements and regulatory environments.
- Manage and develop a small regional data team (1-3 FTE).
- Act as a key representative for Europe in global data initiatives.
- Own at least one global data capability and lead its global rollout.
- Provide training and awareness sessions to the regional leadership team.
Stakeholder Engagement & Transformation
- Champion the shift toward a data-driven culture across the region by influencing and guiding business stakeholders through the transformation journey.
- Engage with regional stakeholders across Finance, Commerce, Operations, Risk, Compliance, and IT to align data priorities with business goals.
- Work closely with the Education & Awareness Lead (located in Amsterdam) to organise data events, awareness campaigns, and training sessions to build data literacy and embed data as a strategic asset.
Data Governance, Data Management & Quality
- Advocate for governance of critical data sets, particularly for regulatory and financial reporting, by clarifying ownership, improving processes and establishing roles and responsibilities.
- Enable adoption of data quality standards for critical regional business processes.
- Collaborate with IT and Architecture teams to identify and implement globally aligned solutions for regional data quality challenges.
- Participate in Change Request Assessments (CRAs) and the weekly Change Advisory Board (CAB) to ensure data governance is embedded in all appropriate change processes.
- Serve as a liaison between regional business and IT to ensure that data requirements are clearly defined, understood and considered as a part of prioritisation / planning.
- Work with the IT and architecture teams to come up with the globally aligned solutions for the regional data quality issues.
- Work with the business and the global platform team to make data available in Data the Clearing Data Platform (CDP) for reporting and analytics while ensuring the regulatory compliance of PII data.
- Define indicators of performance and quality metrics for regional business processes and ensure compliance with data quality framework, standards, roles and responsibilities, and adoption requirements.
Governance & Influence
- Chair the EU Regional Data Steering Committee to align priorities, track initiatives, and promote cross functional collaboration.
- Represent Europe in the Global Clearing Data Management CoE Management Team (MT).
- Provide regular reporting, insights, and escalation on regional data issues, adoption progress, and risks to relevant executive stakeholders.

In banking, Clearing denotes all activities from the time a commitment (buy or sell) is made for a transaction until it is settled. ABN AMRO Clearing acts as an intermediary between clients and the exchanges these clients trade on. We become the buyer to the seller and the seller to the buyer, taking over the risk to reconcile orders between the parties in the transaction. Processing around 20 million transactions a day. We do so for professional traders, investment managers and large corporates. As clients are highly-demanding and the market environment fluctuates, you are guaruanteed to learn a lot in a short space of time. Qualifications
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in clearing, or global markets, with a strong background in large-scale data initiatives and project execution.
- Master’s degree in an appropriate field such as Information Management, Finance, Business Analytics, or Computer Science.
- Experience working with global and regional stakeholders, and an ability to navigate both HQ expectations and Europe realities.
- Strong experience in cross-functional business analysis involving numerous systems and data sources.
- Proficiency in SQL for data exploration, validation, and issue investigation.
- Prior experience with coding and familiarity with platforms like Collibra and Dataiku is a plus.
Skills
- Great level of data literacy and expertise in data management domains including data quality, data governance, metadata, lineage, and policy frameworks.
- Experience with data tooling such as Tableau (for dashboarding), Collibra (for metadata management), and AWS (as storage platform).
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to tailor messages to diverse audiences, i.e.: from regional business teams to European head office leadership.
- Results-oriented mindset with a demonstrated ability to drive execution of strategic plans and data governance frameworks.
- Strong analytical and tactical skills to translate strategy into actionable outcomes.
- Demonstrated ability to manage adversity, lead through ambiguity, and stay focused in challenging situations.
- Devoted, self-motivated, and able to work independently while fostering collaboration across teams and regions.
- Skilled in building data awareness, facilitating training sessions, and advocating for data literacy across an organization.
