Introduction

Royal IHC is merging four business units—Dredge Equipment, Sas-Hytop, Systems, and Services—into one equipment company (OEC). This integration aims to reduce indirect costs and create new opportunities for product development and customer access. Each unit brings unique strengths: Sas-Hytop excels in hydraulic systems for dredging and offshore industries, Systems focuses on automation and digital solutions, Services develops innovative after-market approaches, and Dredge Equipment supplies hardware for sand transportation from sea to shore.

The merged company offers diverse products, including dredge pumps, autonomous operation software, spare parts for installed systems, and vessel conversion services.

Our primary location is in Kinderdijk, employing approximately 350 individuals. The operations conducted in Kinderdijk encompass sales, project management, engineering, procurement, assembly, and services. In Belgium, we operate a steel and iron foundry. Additionally, we maintain sales and service centers in Houston, Dubai, Singapore, Mumbai, and Tianjin.

We are seeking a Manager Sales for our team to enhance our sales capabilities to execute the OEC strategy.

Manager Sales

The Manager Sales brings extensive experience in managing and coaching high-tech B2B sales teams. This individual understands that Sales is not only an art, but also a science. Sales processes and a clear drumbeat are vital ingredients for successful sales. The role therefore involves adopting existing processes and improving them, always combined with coaching the sales professionals.

The current sales team consists of 9 sales professionals, each with their own remit. They operate in OEC’s direct markets, i.e. Dredging and Offshore. The Manager Sales will play an active role in account and opportunity management and will occasionally manage an opportunity him/herself.

The position requires working with HR to establish clear succession plans for critical employees and focusing on rejuvenating the workforce by increasing flexibility. The manager will promote a culture of continuous learning, ensuring that the team remains updated on the latest developments in sales, markets and products.

The Manager Sales is part of the OEC Commerce Team and reports to the OEC board.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Oversee and mentor the sales professionals, providing motivation through constructive feedback, empowering talent and performance management, fostering team cooperation and employability, and ensuring effective succession planning
  • Develop and implement strategies to deliver defined (growth) targets in alignment with the company's strategic direction
  • Monitor and evaluate sales performance to ensure on-target performance
  • Continuously enhance sales processes, systems, and methods to improve efficiency and effectiveness
  • Coordinate sales activities, policies, means, methods, and capacity with the sales functions of other IHC subsidiaries

Qualifications

  • A Higher Vocational Education (HBO) in a technical or commercial field, such as Mechanical Engineering, Technical Management, or Business Administration
  • Demonstrated experience in senior sales management roles within an international context, preferably in the manufacturing or maritime industry
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to develop data-driven insights
  • Strong coaching skills, a proven track record of developing sales talent and savvy in implementing sales strategy tools and techniques
  • A team player who remains composed under pressure, is proactive, and is willing to travel abroad occasionally
  • Available and capable of working in the Rotterdam area, fluent in Dutch and English

Please note that only candidates with valid EU work visa will be considered as viable candidates.

Characteristics

  • A propensity to consider matters from the clients' perspective, truly listen to their needs, and respond thoughtfully and appropriately
  • Recognize the value of each team member, know how to connect with them, and inspire the organization
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to explain complex concepts in simple terms
  • A positive outlook that sees mistakes as opportunities to learn
  • Curiosity to explore new methods and approaches
  • A focus on delivering results to the best possible standard
  • Awareness of how others feel and the impact of one's actions on others
  • An understanding of personal motivations and a commitment to integrity and sound judgment

Royal IHC offers you

  • A market-conform salary based on the candidate's background and experience
  • Good work/life balance with 40 vacation days for full-time employment with the option to buy or sell (additional) leave
  • The possibility to work from home with associated expense allowance and/or to perform the work on the basis of flexible working hours (depending on the position)
  • An average salary pension scheme in which matters are properly arranged in the event of accidental death, incapacity for work or unemployment
  • Good disability insurance
  • Participation (on a voluntary basis) in the Social Fund, on the basis of which care and related costs are reimbursed that are not covered by your health insurance
  • Discount on VGZ's additional healthcare insurance
  • Unlimited sporting in our own fitness room
