What will you do as a Global Estimating Manager

As Global Estimating Manager you are responsible for developing, contributing and managing the cost estimates in order to deliver optimized internal cost estimates with appropriate bench-marking. You support projects with cost analysis, value engineering and alternative options for possible optimizations of business cases during the conceptual engineering and later also supports them during tender evaluations, contract negotiations and project cost tracking. You are responsible for implementing the continuous improvement process of data analysis, estimating and procedures through IT tools for improving the quality & accuracy, increasing the speed, managing the portfolio and utilizing the resources in an optimized manner.

What do we expect from you as a Global Estimating Manager?

• 10 years+ relevant work experience
• Master degree (preferably in mechanical, chemical, electrical)
• Experience in project management / controls (PMP, CCE or equivalent)
• Able to deliver the cost estimating needs of Vopak globally with the support of Engineers / Estimators in Singapore
• Able to develop and maintain estimating standards, guidelines procedures and cost knowledge; base taking it to current international best practices of cost engineering
• Able to turn an estimate into a cost model allowing the project developers to optimize the business case
• Able to maintain and develop the automated cost estimating system as developed in Cleopatra Enterprise by scripting the interface to engineering and the unfolding of the cost estimate in fully automated manner
• Demonstrate strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills and being able to understand different disciplines within the organization
• Sparring partner for project team members to senior management level
• Desire and drive for continuous improvement
• Possess leadership qualities and ability to plan ahead

Core Responsibilities:

• Timely deliver accurate cost estimates for all growth projects undertaken by Global Technology and Engineering
• Coach, develop and align the estimating team with Vopak requirements and international best practices
• Update and maintain estimating, scheduling and cost control standards and processes
• Provide clear weekly and monthly reports / dashboards to track the current & future workload
• Support, measure and monitor the productivity/efficiency of project development and benchmark these with external figures where possible
• Work towards realizing the long-term strategy and vision for continuous improvement of estimating, cost control and scheduling
• Build and train a team of estimating professionals and build an international estimating network within Vopak
• Train project professionals to help them understand estimates
