Role Overview

Netflix is looking for an experienced and effective Director to lead our EMEA privacy and data protection/security legal team. This role is headquartered in Amsterdam and reports functionally to the global VP, Legal and Chief Privacy Officer as well as regionally to the Director, Product & Tech Legal - EMEA.

Responsibilities

• Advise on and manage Netflix’s compliance with data and privacy laws in the EMEA region in a balanced, risk-based manner that allows our business to grow and expand.
• Partner closely with cross-functional partners across the business and within Legal, as well as with Netflix’s EMEA Public Policy team to help define and drive our strategy for engaging with privacy and data protection authorities and policy-makers.
• Collaborate with our Product Counsel team to provide subject matter expertise in the development of new products, features, and offerings that may have particular impact in EMEA.

Requirements

• At least ten years of experience handling complex privacy, data protection, and security issues, with global and in-house experience necessary.
• Experience in the entertainment, advertising, and/or gaming industry is a plus, as is a CIPP certification.
• Proven skill in collaborating across functions and regions.
• Experience building, leading, and inspiring a diverse team of high-performing individuals.
• Strong substantive knowledge of EMEA privacy and security laws as well as international data protection laws, including emerging trends.
• Experience with common and civil law jurisdictions.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including extensive prior experience negotiating and drafting privacy/security provisions and disclosures.
• Ability to navigate ambiguous situations, work well under pressure with diligence, organization, and minimal supervision, and provide practical, real-world advice to clients.
• Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills.
• Ability to manage a diverse and complex workload while maintaining priorities and proactively anticipating issues, particularly in a fast-paced corporate setting.
• Fluency in English is required, and working knowledge of additional EMEA languages is preferable.
