About the Position

The Participant Engagement Manager is responsible for creating and implementing strategies to engage current participants, attract new participants, and encourage collaboration among stakeholders within the UN Global Compact Network. In close partnership with our global Headquarters in New York, this position focuses on building strong relationships with business participants, understanding their needs and challenges, and helping turn ambition into action. The Participant Engagement Manager also works closely with other colleagues, such as the Programmes team, the Communications Officer, the Office Manager, and the Executive Director.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute recruitment strategies. Identify and connect to potential business participants from various sectors across the Netherlands.
• Cultivate relationships with existing participants to ensure their active involvement and commitment to our initiatives. Offer support and guidance to participants in implementing UN Global Compact initiatives and advancing sustainability practices within their organisations.
• Represent the UN Global Compact NL at external events to share our mission and connect with (potential) partners.
• Proactively implement and update tools to improve participant engagement, efficiency, and satisfaction, including the Global Compact database, CRM, and tracking/reporting systems.
• Preparing and monitoring budgets, reports, and the financial strategy.

Requirements

• HBO- or WO-Bachelor's/Master’s degree in Business Administration or a related field.
• Minimum of five years of professional experience in a business setting, focused on Sales, Account Management, Stakeholder Engagement, or Business Development. You understand what drives businesses and what challenges they face.
• You have a passion for sustainability, for both green and social topics, the Sustainable Development Goals and making businesses more sustainable.
• Full proficiency in Dutch and English, both in writing and verbally in a professional setting.
• You have demonstrable experience in setting up and implementing recruitment and retention strategies. You have experience with CRM systems (preferably Salesforce).
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders and represent the UN Global Compact.
• Proven organisational and project management skills, with the ability to plan, execute, and evaluate multiple engagement initiatives effectively.

What do we offer

A small, dynamic team in the Netherlands with enthusiastic colleagues worldwide. You work from our office in The Hague (5 minutes walk from The Hague Central Station), with the option to work remotely 50% of the week. The scope of the position is 32 to 37.5 hours per week. The initial contract will be for 1 year, with the possibility of extension based on performance. The employment package includes a 13th month salary, a favorable pension scheme, 28 vacation days and 2 additional days off during the holidays.
