About the team: The Application Data Services department provides world-class database and streaming solutions, both on-premise and on public cloud, to our infrastructure and product development teams. We ensure secure, reliable, and scalable transport and storage of data for our business and infrastructure services. Our data services currently cover technologies like MySQL, Cassandra, Kafka, Confluent, and Elasticsearch. We plan to expand this with complementary cloud database technologies.

Role Description: As a Senior Product Manager for the Streaming and NoSQL Track, you will define and execute the long-term strategy and roadmap for a set of critical data services that power Booking.com at global scale. This track oversees both on-premise technologies (Kafka, Cassandra, Elasticsearch) and the evolution of our cloud-native offerings built on services like Confluent Cloud, OpenSearch, and DynamoDB.

You’ll play a key leadership role, driving alignment across multiple technical teams, influencing senior stakeholders, and shaping the next generation of data infrastructure at Booking.com.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set a long-term vision and multi-year roadmap for Streaming and NoSQL platforms, balancing technical evolution, cost efficiency, and user value.
  • Drive cross-organizational alignment on strategy and priorities, influencing senior stakeholders and engineering leaders across Infrastructure and Product departments.
  • Partner deeply with engineering teams to deliver scalable, reliable, and secure data services, ensuring they meet Booking’s high performance standards.
  • Define product success metrics and use data-driven insights to make prioritization and investment decisions.
  • Mentor and support other Product Managers within the data services domain to drive best practices in product discovery and delivery.
  • Champion adoption of platform services, enabling product and infrastructure teams to build efficiently and securely on our data foundation.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Security, Finance, and Cloud teams to manage risk, optimize spend, and ensure compliance.

Role Qualifications and Requirements:

  • 5+ years of product management experience building and scaling technical platform or infrastructure products (Cloud and/or On-Premise).
  • Proven track record of setting product vision and strategy for complex, multi-stakeholder technical domains.
  • Consistent record of delivering large-scale, highly available software and services, from concept to rollout, using data-driven decision-making.
  • Solid understanding of distributed systems, data storage, and streaming technologies (e.g., Kafka, Cassandra, Elasticsearch, DynamoDB, or similar).
  • Ability and drive to learn Booking.com’s infrastructure, system architecture, and technical direction.
  • Proven ability to influence technology teams and senior stakeholders through data, standards, and best practices.
  • Experienced in navigating large, matrixed environments and leading through ambiguity.
  • Strong ability to translate complex technical capabilities into clear business outcomes and product value.
  • Passion for enabling developers through high-quality internal platform services.
  • Skilled in end-to-end solution delivery, from opportunity sizing and requirements definition to launch and adoption. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, stakeholder management, and communication skills across diverse engineering and business teams. Fluency in English, both spoken and written.
  • Background in Computer Science or a related technical field is a plus.
