Hunkemöller is looking for a talented Analytics Engineer to join our data team and help drive our digital data transformation. This is a fantastic opportunity for an individual passionate about data modeling and building the semantic layer that powers data-driven decisions across our entire organization.

YOUR TASKS

This position is for an Analytics Engineer to build and maintain the core of our Business Intelligence platform. You will be responsible for transforming raw data into clean, reliable, and analytics-ready datasets using dbt, and then building out our semantic layer in Looker using LookML. You'll work closely with Data Engineers to understand our data sources and with our BI Product Owner and Data Analysts to translate complex business requirements into a robust, scalable, and trustworthy "single source of truth." The right candidate will be excited by the prospect of building the data models that empower the entire company.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and Maintain LookML Models: Design, build, and maintain our Looker semantic layer using LookML. Create and manage projects, models, views, and Explores to provide intuitive self-service analytics capabilities for business users.
  • Build and Maintain dbt Models: Develop, test, and deploy data transformation models using dbt. Transform raw data from our enterprise data warehouse (BigQuery) into clean, well-structured, and performant data marts ready for analysis.
  • Translate Business Logic into Code: Work closely with the BI Product Owner and business stakeholders to understand complex business logic and accurately translate it into both dbt and LookML code.
  • Ensure Data Quality and Governance: Implement data quality tests, write clear documentation, and adhere to data governance standards to ensure the accuracy and trustworthiness of our data.
  • Optimize Performance: Monitor and optimize the performance of both dbt models and Looker Explores to ensure a fast and reliable user experience.
  • Collaborate and Support: Partner with Data Engineers, Data Analysts, and business users to troubleshoot data issues, answer questions, and promote data literacy.

Requirements:

  • Strong SQL Proficiency: Proficient in writing complex, performant, and readable SQL for data transformation and analysis.
  • Looker & LookML Experience: Proven experience with Looker development, including writing LookML, is required.
  • dbt Experience: Hands-on experience with dbt for data modeling and transformation is a strong plus.
  • Data Modeling Skills: Solid understanding of data warehousing concepts and data modeling techniques (e.g., star schemas).
  • Version Control: Experience using Git for version control and collaborative development is essential.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: A strong analytical mindset with the ability to troubleshoot complex data issues.
  • Cloud Platform Familiarity: Experience working with a cloud data warehouse, preferably Google Cloud Platform (BigQuery), is highly advantageous.
  • English Proficiency: Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.

Benefits

  • 25 Days of Annual Leave: As a full-time employee, you will receive 25 days of paid holiday each year, with the flexibility to buy or sell up to 4 additional days to meet personal needs.

  • Hybrid Work Model: We offer a flexible hybrid work environment, enabling you to seamlessly balance office and remote work to enhance productivity and work-life balance.

  • Work From Abroad: Take advantage of the opportunity to work remotely from abroad for up to 2 weeks annually.

  • International Work Environment: Join a dynamic, global team that fosters collaboration and cultural diversity, providing you with a rich and inclusive professional experience.

  • Partial Travel Allowance: Benefit from a partial travel allowance to support your commuting costs, ensuring your journey to and from work is more affordable.

  • Hunkemöller Academy: Gain access to our Hunkemöller Academy, offering a wide range of professional development programs to support your career growth and skill enhancement.

  • Employee Discounts: Enjoy a 25% discount on all company products, allowing you to access our offerings at a reduced price.
