Freelance English Teacher

Babel offers high quality language- and communication courses in 15 different languages. Our classes are taught at our beautiful location in Utrecht on the Nieuwegracht, online and In-Company all over the Netherlands. We work with academic, general and business students, mostly from professional / highly educated backgrounds. We are looking for freelance English teachers who can support our English teaching team.

Job description

Babel offers group courses ranging from A0 to C2, both face to face in Utrecht as well as online. We also organize In-Company courses for various clients, ranging from small businesses, universities, HR departments, legal offices to larger corporations. It is also possible for students to follow individual classes, for example a manager who wishes to improve his English so he can communicate more clearly with his international employees. During all of these classes you often make use of a course book, but it is also possible we ask you to use a reader specifically developed for that course or you can make use of your own materials and expertise.

What we offer

A team of energetic co-workers, a dynamic working environment with a company that is always developing and looking to improve. We organize four teacher training sessions each year so you can learn from your colleagues and address issues, questions and anecdotes you have come across in your classroom. Our course coordination department takes care of a large part of the administrative workload such as scheduling, replacing/rescheduling your classes in case of illness, informing students, organizing course materials and creating and updating lesson plans.

What we ask of you

• CELTA or other teaching degree
• Your own English level is C2
• You must be available for at least four to eight hours a week, and one evening per week
• Minimum experience of 3 years teaching adults
• Ideally you live in or near Utrecht, the Hague or Den Bosch area.
• You are available shortly and at least one night a week and are open to teaching online classes
