This role is responsible for driving the merchandising strategy and execution for the wholesale channel, serving both online and offline partners across Europe. The Merchandiser will collaborate cross-functionally to ensure assortments are commercially viable, brand-aligned, and financially sound.
Your Tasks
Core Merchandising Responsibilities
Strategy & Planning
- Partner with product development, sales, and planning teams to build customer-specific assortments that align with brand direction and financial targets.
- Analyse historical data, current trends, and market dynamics to inform product and pricing strategies.
- Manage wholesale pricing & go-to-market (GTM) strategy.
Line Building & Product Selection
- Collaborate with design and product development teams to influence product assortments based on wholesale needs and consumer insights.
- Ensure assortments are commercially viable and channel-appropriate while maintaining brand integrity.
- Manage purchasing and inventory levels of All Year Round assortment – working closely with all stakeholders to ensure size availability is above 95%.
Cross-functional Collaboration
- Develop and maintain relationships with key internal and external stakeholders to ensure effective buy-in and delivery of the merchandising and channel strategy.
- Stakeholders include Product Development, Sales, Supply Chain, Logistics, Operations, Marketing, Finance, and Wholesale Partners.
Account Management
- Act as the key merchandising contact for major wholesale accounts, providing product knowledge, assortment strategy, and business insights.
- Review and analyse account performance to identify opportunities and drive growth.
Reporting & Analysis
- Review and direct in-season trading activities to maximise commercial performance.
- Deliver post-season hindsight reports and apply learnings to future seasons.
Financial & Strategic Responsibilities
- Develop and execute the financial plan for the third-party wholesale channel.
Additional Responsibilities
Assortment & Channel Strategy
- Define seasonal assortment frameworks by region and channel (e.g., online pure players vs. brick-and-mortar).
- Monitor competitor assortments and pricing to inform strategic decisions.
Forecasting & Demand Planning
- Collaborate with planning and supply chain teams to forecast demand and ensure timely product availability.
- Monitor sell-in vs. sell-through performance and adjust plans accordingly.
Digital Wholesale Enablement
- Support digital merchandising tools and platforms used by wholesale partners (e.g., B2B portals, virtual showrooms).
- Ensure digital assets and product data are accurate and aligned with seasonal launches.
Sustainability & Compliance
- Ensure product assortments meet sustainability and compliance standards relevant to European markets.
Your Skills, Knowledge and Experience:
- 8+ years of experience in merchandising, with at least 4 years focused on the wholesale channel.
- Proven experience working with pureplay accounts, national retailers or wholesale partners in a fashion/lifestyle category.
- Strong analytical and financial acumen; proficient in Excel, planning tools, and reporting systems.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence cross-functional teams and external partners.
- Deep understanding of market trends, competitive landscape, and consumer behaviour.
