Sales Engineer – Food, Fashion & General Merchandise

What will you be doing?​

As a Sales Engineer, you are the technical brain behind our commercial proposals. You are the one who turns customer needs into well-balanced, competitive solutions.

In this position you are working closely with the Sales Manager and other stakeholders, you play a central role in shaping the technical concept, building detailed proposals, and ensuring accurate pricing. You help define the value we offer and not just in technology, but in smart cost structures and compelling solution packages.

Your main responsibilities:

  • Develop tailored proposals based on customer specifications, balancing innovation, feasibility, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Calculate and structure pricing, aligning with internal benchmarks and customer expectations.
  • Design and present warehouse solutions for both technical layout and business logic during the pre-contract phase.
  • Collaborate with sales, engineering, and finance to ensure proposals are technically sound and commercially attractive.
  • Act as the technical lead in the sales phase, ensuring all solution aspects are clear, feasible, and aligned with internal capabilities.
  • Support smooth handover of the project to the execution team after contract award.

What do we ask from you?

You are not just an engineer, but you are a problem-solver, a team player, and a communicator who enjoys turning technical insights into customer wins.

Furthermore, we would be looking for someone with:

  • A degree in Industrial, Mechanical, Electro-mechanical, Automation, or Logistical Engineering (Bachelor’s or Master’s) or similar background.
  • Preferably 2+ years of relevant experience in a technical-commercial role.
  • Strong communicator and active listener. You understand client needs and speak their language.
  • Analytical thinker who loves solving logistical puzzles.
  • Proactive and self-driven. You seek out information and take initiative.
  • Willing to travel internationally (approx. 4 days/month).
  • Fluent in English and other languages are a plus!

About the team

The Customer Centre Warehouse Solutions International (CC WS INT) is active throughout the world. The Sales organization of WS INT is organized in different market segments: Food / Parts & Components and General Merchandise & Fashion.

In order to keep pace with the current and expected future growth, we are looking for a Sales Engineer in the Food/Parts & Components team. Your contribution will further increase the Vanderlande market coverage and successfully develop the Food/Parts & Components market segment.

This position offers a competitive salary range of € 4.500, – to €6.000,- gross per month (excluding 8% holiday allowance). Through exceeding performance expectations, you even have the possibility to grow outside this scale.
