Job Description:

The EMEA Portfolio Manager will work with the Category team to lead the growth of the Champion Petfoods brands Acana and Orijen across EMEA markets. He/She will lead the development and execution of portfolio strategies that align with both regional market needs and the broader company vision. You will have ownership of pricing architecture, product assortment decisions, and ensuring that the product portfolio is competitive, profitable, and tailored to meet the evolving demands of local markets within EMEA.

This role is key to supporting decision-making across multiple stakeholders, ensuring that the portfolio evolves with market trends, consumer preferences, and competitive landscapes. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including sales, customer marketing, and finance, to ensure that portfolio decisions are aligned with Champion Petfoods' growth ambitions.

What will be your key responsibilities?

  • Portfolio Strategy Development: Lead the creation and execution of the regional portfolio strategy, ensuring that Champion Petfoods’ product offerings meet the needs of the diverse EMEA markets. Ensure the portfolio aligns with both regional and global brand objectives.
  • Product Assortment & Lifecycle Management: Oversee the product lifecycle, including introduction, optimization, and discontinuation of products across the region. Work with the global brand and global Innovation teams to identify opportunities for new product introductions based on market trends and customer demand.
  • Pricing Strategy: Contributes to develop and manage the pricing strategy, including owning the pricing architecture for the entire EMEA portfolio. Ensure competitive and profitable pricing structures that align with market positioning, value perception, and regional business goals. Regularly review pricing with SRM based on market dynamics, competitor analysis, and cost factors.
  • Market Analysis & Insights: Gather and analyze market data, customer feedback, and competitive intelligence to inform portfolio decisions. Leverage insights from regional sales teams, category managers, and other stakeholders to optimize the portfolio mix and identify growth opportunities.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with internal teams Customer team, sales, and finance to ensure that portfolio strategies are executed seamlessly across all channels. Communicate product priorities and performance metrics to senior management.
  • P&L Management & Reporting: Collaborate with the finance team to manage the P&L for the product portfolio. Track and report on portfolio performance, including profitability, sales volume, and market share. Regularly update the Regional Marketing Director on portfolio performance and make recommendations for improvements.
  • Competitive Intelligence & Trend Monitoring: Continuously monitor competitor activities, industry trends, and consumer preferences in collaboration with CMI to identify shifts in market demand. Proactively adapt the portfolio strategy to maintain a competitive edge in the market.
  • Product Portfolio Segmentation: Define and refine portfolio segmentation strategies based on price, performance, and consumer target segments. Ensure that the product portfolio reflects Champion Petfoods’ value proposition while maximizing growth potential in various market tiers.
  • Portfolio Communication: Maintain clear communication with the global and regional teams about portfolio changes, key initiatives, and strategy shifts. Prepare and present reports on portfolio performance and strategic recommendations for future growth.
  • Portfolio Management Review (PMR) Leadership: Construct, lead, and manage the Portfolio Management Review (PMR) as a key component of the SOP (Sales and Operations Planning) cycle. Ensure that the PMR is aligned with overall business objectives, facilitating a collaborative, data-driven review of portfolio performance, new product introductions, and portfolio optimization.

What are we looking for?

  • 5 years+ plus experience in Demand functions, Data Driven Marketing.
  • Strong ability to think strategically and make data-driven decisions that balance market needs, financial objectives, and brand positioning.
  • Proficient in analyzing market trends, financial data, and consumer insights. Ability to leverage data to inform decisions and track portfolio performance.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with diverse teams, including marketing, sales, finance, and operations
  • Understanding of P&L management, pricing strategies, and financial principles as they relate to portfolio performance.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
  • Strong ability to work independently, take initiative, and drive projects forward with minimal supervision.
  • English, any other European language will be a plus
