The Port of Rotterdam is the driving force behind the Dutch vital infrastructure and Europe's largest port. Our ambition is great: we want to be the smartest and most sustainable port in the world! Together with companies in the port, we are working towards a future-proof port with net zero CO2 emissions. This requires adapting from a fossil-based energy system to a circular economy. Digital also plays a fundamental role in this goal; on the one hand by using the latest technologies to organise logistic chains through the port as efficiently as possible, and on the other by optimising the usage of energy and raw materials within our industrial cluster in order to reduce energy costs, improve availability/grid congestion and accelerate sustainability.
Your role
As our Business Manager Digital & Energy Transition you will be part of our Customer Digital team. Your main focus will be our Smart Energy & Industry programme. This programme works on various digital developments to accelerate the energy and raw materials transition.
In this role, you will manage and influence different internal and external stakeholders and dependencies. Through this work, you can expand your knowledge about issues, challenges and trends relating to (digital) energy transition developments even further whilst maintaining a network of relevant relations in and outside our port.

Departmental information
You will be part of the Customer Digital team (24 FTE) part of our Commercial Department, which deploys digital to realise the port's strategy and improve performance.
Fueled by data and insights, we identify bottlenecks for our customers and work with market players on digital solutions. We do not build these ourselves, but coordinate and orchestrate them. In the field of energy and raw materials transition, we have already rolled out various commercial value propositions together with startups, scale-ups, suppliers and knowledge institutes. The team is multidisciplinary with various nationalities and backgrounds.
In addition, you will work closely with our New Business & Portfolio (NB&P) team (30 FTE). NB&P works on attracting new companies, setting up projects to help existing clients become more sustainable and developing new activities and services of the port itself. With over 70 concrete projects, the NB&P department plays an important role in creating a sustainable future and contributes to the long-term success of the port of Rotterdam.
