Join Our Team as a Verzuimspecialist / Employability Specialist

Are you ready to make a real impact in sustainable employability, wellbeing, and absence prevention? In this role, you’ll be the subject matter expert within the Talent Centre of Excellence (COE) for our International Headquarters (IHQ) and the Dutch organization. Together with colleagues from Talent Acquisition, Talent Management, Learning & Development, and Rewards, you’ll work on building a healthy, future-proof organization—for both our factory employees and office-based teams.

You’ll develop and implement strategies that reduce absenteeism, ensure legal compliance (including the Wet Verbetering Poortwachter), and empower HR business partners to take action with confidence. You’ll also collaborate closely with external partners such as occupational health services, insurers, and healthcare providers—and lead supplier tenders. This role gives you the space to truly make a difference, with practical solutions that matter.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead Wellbeing and Sick Leave Prevention Initiatives: Design and roll out tailored wellbeing programs addressing both physical and mental health. These initiatives will serve the diverse needs of factory and office-based employees. You’ll also manage programs such as Preventive Medical Examinations (PMO) and ensure clear follow-up actions.
  • Guide HRBPs in Absenteeism Management: Provide structure, guidance, and coaching to HRBPs on effective absenteeism case handling. You'll ensure compliance with the Wet Verbetering Poortwachter and help set the right frameworks to streamline processes and reduce long-term leave cases.
  • Monitor Trends and Turn Insight into Action: Identify absenteeism trends across teams and translate them into policies, tools, and actions. You’ll be hands-on in addressing early warning signs and proposing improvements grounded in data and business needs.
  • Support Reintegration Processes: Lead reintegration cases in close partnership with HRBPs, Arbodienst, UWV, and other stakeholders. You'll ensure that returning employees feel supported and that all legal and procedural steps are properly managed.
  • Manage Supplier Relationships & Lead Tenders: Take ownership of relationships with external partners such as healthcare providers, insurers, and reintegration services. You’ll oversee service quality and alignment with JDE Peet’s wellbeing goals, while also leading tenders and selection processes to ensure we partner with providers who deliver value and impact.
  • Develop Preventive and Educational Programs: Work with Learning & Development to build knowledge and awareness around absenteeism and wellbeing. Develop or maintain training materials for managers and ensure they understand their role in prevention and early intervention.
  • Ensure Legal and Process Compliance: Maintain rigorous standards for documentation, timelines, and reporting in line with Dutch legislation. You’ll also serve as a key point of contact for system users, resolving queries and ensuring smooth procedures.
  • Drive Decisions with Data: Collect and analyze absenteeism data to spot patterns, assess risks, and recommend actions. Your insights will help sharpen focus and improve both employee outcomes and organizational efficiency.

Qualifications

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Health & Safety, or a related field
  • Proven track record in a comparable role, ideally within a commercial or operational environment, with demonstrated success in absenteeism management, wellbeing, and sustainable employability.
  • In-depth knowledge of the Wet Verbetering Poortwachter, Arbowet, and employee reintegration procedures
  • Experience with leading tenders and selecting external partners (e.g. healthcare providers, insurers)
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to turn data into actionable insights
  • A hands-on, proactive approach to case management and process improvement
  • The ability to coach and enable HRBPs, especially around compliance and wellbeing
  • Excellent communication skills in both Dutch and English
