Job Description

The Business Category Leader (BCL), Mother and Child Care (MCC) and Women’s Health (WH) is responsible for leading a critical portfolio to propel the business to the #1 Baby Care brand worldwide. The Business Category Leader is end-to-end accountable for the strategic commercial success of the category throughout the entire lifecycle. As a critical and influential member of the MCC & WH Leadership team, he/she is responsible for ensuring the excellent execution of all critical global enablers to achieve significant results that align with the organization’s overarching goals.

This leader will have a direct team (approx. 16 people) and partner with/influence hundreds of cross-functional team members, mobilizing & empowering all to deliver on Brand Strength, Household Penetration, Consumer Lifetime Value, Market Share, Financial, ESG, and People KPIs. They will inspire the organization to think in a transformative and future-proof business by developing products, services, and new business model roadmaps and commercial strategies, capitalizing on the changing needs of consumers in parenting.

Your Role

  • Executes short- to mid-term strategies to achieve substantial results, ensuring alignment with and support of the MCC+WHs overarching goals. Adjusting approaches as needed to drive impactful initiatives and overall business success.
  • Oversees the development, maintenance, and presentation of comprehensive and robust Strategic Plan of Record, Annual Operating Plan, and Innovation Business Cases to relevant stakeholders, ensuring they align with market dynamics/requirements and MCC+WH objectives to support informed decision-making and strategic alignment.
  • Drives the vision, ensuring alignment and understanding across all levels and stakeholders, and oversees successful realization through comprehensive strategic planning, end-to-end product management, execution, and continuous oversight.
  • Leverages consumer, professional, and customer research and insights, channel trends, current market conditions, and competitor information to unlock new ways that will drive competitive advantage and Category growth.
  • Ensure the Philips Avent Share the Care Brand Positioning is central to all that we do to deliver consistency, leverage the brand's ownability, and superior consumer and customer experience. Partner with Communications and Design to make these elements a critical value creator for the business.
  • Manages and fosters a collaborative and high-performing environment, ensuring seamless coordination with other departments across the organization to drive integrated and effective outcomes.
  • Governs strategies to enhance financial performance by optimizing pricing structures, effectively managing costs, and ensuring strict adherence to budgets, continuously monitoring and adjusting to maximize overall profitability.
  • Establishes targets for product quality throughout the product lifecycle, ensuring that these standards are met consistently, monitoring performance and implementing improvements to enhance product excellence and reliability.
  • Initiates Fewer, Bigger, Better globally scaled initiatives aimed at creating an efficient portfolio and sustainable growth. Ensuring that these programs are executed efficiently, adhere to timelines, and meet defined consumer and commercial objectives to drive growth and operational success.
  • Responsible for developing POV for Top 15 customer JBPs, playing an active role in the commercialization of the strategy. Owns commercial innovation needs specific to the District/Zone/Region, as applicable for Consumer products.
  • Leads succession planning and comprehensive talent management, maintains high employee engagement, drives employee selection, performance management, compensation management, and career development in alignment with organizational operational goals.
  • Foster close collaboration E2E across MCC & WH and with the Marketing, Sales, Strategy, and Process Centers of Excellence to leverage organizational subject matter expertise to deliver value for the business.
  • Sustains relationships with both internal and external stakeholders to secure support and buy-in and communicate effectively to ensure alignment with business goals and strategies, fostering collaboration and commitment across all involved parties.

You're likely the right fit for the role if you possess

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or applicable discipline; MBA preferred
  • 15+ years of business experience leading upstream, downstream, and/or functional teams, with a minimum of 10 years in Brand Marketing, ideally in the Fast Moving Consumer Packaged Goods (FMCG) industry.
  • Understanding of the global Retailer & Consumer Landscape with demonstrated application of insights and trends to uncover new business opportunities. Ability to translate key customer needs to all levels in the organization to ensure Philips Avent is seen as a preferred strategic partner.
  • Ability to recognize talent, cultivate excellence, and lead high-performing teams. Demonstrates excellent coaching, mentoring, and people development skills.
  • A seasoned leader who can support the team by helping them to prioritize, inspiring a growth mindset, and a “take-ownership” attitude.
  • Exhibits passion for and focus on consumer-first and customer-centric solutions with a strong knowledge of breakthrough innovation road-mapping and go-to-market strategies.
  • Working knowledge of the latest Media, Digital, and Activation trends. Understanding of several business models is a plus (B2C, B2B, DTC, B2B2C).
  • Proven track record of teaming up with R&D, Quality, Clinical, and Operations to deliver superior consumer experience and best-in-class experience for retail customers.
  • Strong financial acumen, including business case creation and strategic scenario planning in P&L Management.
  • Ideal candidate is results-oriented with a proven track record of delivering business results, with/bias toward driving action with a growth mindset.
  • Proven history of successfully driving key strategic initiatives within an organization beyond the immediate span of control. Leading, influencing, and working with all levels in a complex matrixed organization, including executive leadership.
  • Demonstrated expert written/verbal communication skills, and a proven capability to present complex concepts in a concise and understandable way to a variety of audiences, including the highest level of the organization and senior executives externally.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration and ability to partner, influence, and negotiate across a global organization.
