Focus Engineering is currently looking for a Project Lead Engineer E&I for a plant-owner in the chemical industry in the region of Rotterdam. Exciting projects you'll work on:
- Electrical infrastructure upgrade: Expansion and enhancement of the Botlek site’s infrastructure, including new 11kV cables and substations.
- Airfins replacement: Design and installation of large-scale cooling unit replacements, including associated electrical and instrumental systems.
- Pump replacements: Redesign and installation of motors, instrumentation, and safety systems.
- Equipment upgrades: Installation of new control valves, instrumentation, and electrical components for pressurized equipment.
- Sustainability-focused initiatives aimed at CO₂ reduction.

Job Description
The Job:
- You will design and engineer electrical equipment and instrumentation for small to medium-sized capital projects (up to €10MM).
- You will collaborate with our engineering partner to ensure compliance with codes and standards.
- You develop and review specifications, data sheets, RFQs, and ensure optimal total cost of ownership.
- You will participate in all project phases: conceptual design, basic engineering, extended basic and detailed design, and commissioning.
- You will interface with disciplines such as planning, construction, procurement, maintenance, and operations.
- You will ensure that all installed equipment is reliable, compliant, and safe.
- You will lead quality assurance processes during project implementation.
Who Are You?
About you:
- You have a Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical or Instrumentation Engineering.
- You have 7+ years of experience in the petrochemical industry.
- You have expertise in high/low voltage design and working knowledge of BPCS and SIS using IEC61511 standards.
- You have knowledge of flow, level, pressure, and temperature measurement principles and control valves.
- You have experience managing vendors and overseeing the manufacturing process (e.g., FAT/SAT).
- You are preferably Functional Safety certified.
- You are familiar with local and international industry standards and ATEX zone installations.
- You can write and speak English (preferably also Dutch).
