Your impact at MUFG

The purpose of the Resilience Team is to oversee the implementation of the resilience strategy, ensuring efficient and seamless operations of key business processes, identifying and implementing change to drive efficiencies and enhance controls. The team bridges design and execution, driving change whilst keeping the bank safe, secure and compliant. The Resilience Team plays a pivotal role in driving operational excellence, mitigating risks, and fostering innovation.

The Resilience Team reports to the Chief Operating Officer, and leads initiatives on business continuity and information security, procurement and vendor management, outsourcing and third party risk management, end-to-end process optimisation and a robust operational resilience framework in accordance with the Digital Operational Resilience Act (DORA).

We are looking for an experienced Business Analyst and Process Analyst, with a specific focus on innovation of end-to-end business processes and cyber security, the resilience of the bank’s IT architecture.

This job involves close collaboration with the Technology teams in Amsterdam and London and various other departments, to improve visibility of Technology related dependencies and vulnerabilities, ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices related to the Information Systems Security Policy (ISSP).

The job requires a proven track record with regards to information security and technology risks, knowledge of applicable regulations such as the EBA guidelines on Outsourcing, Risk and Security Frameworks, BIS Principles on Operational Resilience and the Digital Operational Resilience Act.

The role includes the following:

As a key member of the Resilience Team, driving a variety of tasks and initiatives, to ensure a robust set of Technology configurations, helping the bank remain in control. Identify and assess potential threats and vulnerabilities to operations, including cyber-attacks, system failures, and other disruptions, and develop mitigation strategies to address identified risks.

Stay up to date with the latest regulations, guidelines, and industry best practices related to IT Risk Management, with the following responsibilities:

  • Clarify the level of application services required by the MUFG business areas in Europe, and design the appropriate underlying system configurations to align with the MUFG EMEA IT strategy.
  • Work with senior IT management within MUFG to review the effectiveness of the current strategies and KPIs to support the business objectives.
  • Architecture: Support relevant business owners to help ensure fit-for-purpose and resilient architecture solutions in business and IT, available for implementation.
  • Workflows: Review coherence of business process flows designed in Blueworks, check completeness of storage in central repository (ServiceNow), validating the link between business workflow and IT configurations. Oversee periodic workflow monitoring and relevant updates by business subject matter experts.
  • Help ensuring business process flows accurately map to the applicable critical and important functions (CIFs), connecting the flows into existing other processes such as the operational risk management programme.
  • Business Continuity Management: Build accurate mapping of system architecture and configuration into business impact analyses. Review the disaster recovery plans for relevant applications against the system life-cycle-management tool.
  • Risk Management: Work closely with the risk management team to identify and assess resilience related risks and develop mitigation strategies. Monitor activities for potential risks and take appropriate actions to address them.
  • Training and Awareness: Help conduct training sessions and workshops as relevant. Foster a culture of resilience awareness and preparedness throughout the organization.
  • Reporting and Documentation: Prepare regular reports and documentation to communicate the status of activities and compliance with EBA guidelines to senior management and relevant stakeholders.
  • Operational Resilience Strategy and Framework: contribute to the on-going implementation of resilience processes in accordance with applicable requirements, in close collaboration and partnership with other functions and offices.
  • Encourage and endorse innovation and the development of new initiatives which will enhance key business process efficiencies and controls. Collaborate to map out existing processes, analyse workflows and identify areas where optimisation can be achieved. Oversee the development of KPIs and metrics to measure process performance and improvement.

In order to be successful in the role, you will need the following:

Skills and experience:

  • Relevant qualifications or degrees in IT architecture, and prior work experience in architecture at a large corporate organisation, preferably a financial institution.
  • Project management skills: a delivery mindset and experience with managing complex projects, applying relevant change management tools and techniques.
  • Proven work experience or knowledge of incident analyses and operational resilience.
  • Prior experience with data management, including the review of architectural parts of business and IT designs.
  • Awareness of relevant regulatory context, including BCBS239, DORA, GDPR, PSD.
  • Experience with tooling for incident management, TOGAF architecture and the ArchiMate open standards, Security Platforms such as IBM Blueworks Live or Qualys, ServiceNow, analytical skills using Excel or PowerBI.
  • Able to apply a holistic view, analyse problems in business and IT, then reconfigure them in accordance with functional requirements
  • Languages skills: Fluent in English. Proficiency in other languages such as Dutch and Japanese is desirable.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical skills with the ability to review and analyze complex documentation. Proficiency in using tools and techniques to support decision-making processes.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills to convey complex information clearly and concisely. Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders at various levels of the organization.
  • Problem-solving Abilities: Strong problem-solving skills to identify and resolve issues related to outsourcing compliance and risk management. Ability to think critically and propose practical solutions.
  • Adaptability: Willingness to adapt to changing regulatory requirements and organizational needs. Openness to learning and staying updated on industry trends and best practices. Ability to initiate and implement change, with associated policies, procedures and frameworks.
