We are currently recruiting for a Junior Legal Counsel in our EMEA Legal team based in Amsterdam.

Function positioning

MUFG has an exciting and unique opportunity for a starting junior in-house counsel (bedrijfsjurist) to join our EMEA Legal Team based in Amsterdam. MUFG are looking for graduates or junior lawyers who already have experience in private practice or in-house. Graduates or students in their last year of university may also apply for an internship in MUFG’s EMEA Legal Department.

MUFG will support the successful candidate to either qualify as a solicitor in England and Wales or complete the Beroepsopleiding Bedrijfsjuristen if desirable. As part of your training, you will participate alongside your peers in a uniquely designed development programme for MUFG enabling you to develop your soft skills and institutional knowledge whilst building a valuable network across MUFG.

The role includes the following:

The core activities of this function include: Providing legal services to and managing the legal risk for MUFG entities and branches across EMEA.

The EMEA Legal Department supports the achievement of these activities by:

• Assisting with monitoring, identifying and advising on legal, regulatory and market developments that may impact MUFG and its business.
• Providing legal advice, drafting, reviewing and negotiating documentation and providing all related transaction management and project management for a broad range of banking transactions which may include project finance, aviation finance, fund finance, asset finance, securitization, leveraged finance, structured products and derivatives.
• Advising on the legal, regulatory and reputational issues arising in transactions and in the non-transactional aspects of the operation and business activities of MUFG.

In order to be successful in the role, you will need the following:

• LLM degree (or expected LLM degree) from a Dutch university.
• Excellent academic results
• Work experience as junior legal counsel, intern, paralegal, thesis student at a reputable law firm or another significant financial institution is an advantage
• Demonstratable interest in financial services industry
• Fluency in Dutch and English, familiarity with other European languages is an advantage, but not a pre-requisite.

• Gross salary based on experience and consistent with the market
