About this role

As the Team Lead Data Engineering Logistics at Just Eat Takeaway.com, you will be at the forefront of driving our data-driven initiatives for the Logistics organisation. In this leadership role, you will guide a team of Data Engineers, ensuring the successful delivery of Data & Analytics solutions. Your leadership will be instrumental in advancing our data infrastructure, optimising operational efficiency, and significantly contributing to our e-commerce success.

You will play a pivotal role in enhancing our data engineering and analytics capabilities and directly impacting decision-making.

Location: Hybrid- 3 days a week from our Amsterdam office & 2 days working from home

Reporting to: Manager Global Customer Service - Analytics

These are some of the key ingredients to the role:

• Lead, drive, and support the delivery of Global Logistics tech initiatives with data
• Provide strategic direction and technical oversight to the Data Engineering team
• Mentor and develop team members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation
• Establish and maintain cross-functional collaboration between different teams
• Act as the main point of contact for Data Engineering-related matters
• Provide in-depth analysis of logistic systems to equip stakeholders with insights
• Oversee the technical aspects of data projects, ensuring high standards of quality, performance, and security
• Manage project timelines and resources effectively
• Ensure understanding of local business needs and priorities for systems
• Promote organisational learning on logistics innovation
• Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies

What will you bring to the table?

• Experience in Data Engineering, with demonstrable experience leading and managing Data Engineering teams
• Advanced skills in SQL and experience with relational databases; proficiency in data transformation tools like dbt is highly desirable
• Strong proficiency in Python or similar programming languages
• Extensive experience with cloud platforms (preferably GCP)
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, capable of working effectively in a dynamic team environment and interacting with various stakeholders
• Proven ability to lead complex projects, manage resources effectively, and deliver high-quality results on-time in a dynamic high-pace environment
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail
