Join Our Team at Vanderlande

We are seeking a highly skilled and enthusiastic Shipping Manager to join our team at Vanderlande. As a key member of our global supply chain organization, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and effective delivery of goods to our customers across the globe.

What will you be doing?

As a Shipping Manager within Vanderlande, you will be responsible for setting up global shipping plans using four different modalities (air, ocean, road, and rail). You guide global projects from the tender stage till the operational handover to the forwarding team.

In this role, you will work from Veghel but you are willing to travel when needed (max 5% of your time). You are part of the Contracts and Routing Team and report to the Manager Contract, Routing & Forwarding.

You will be working in a team of three colleagues with whom you prepare the shipping projects.

Responsibilities

If you’re an enthusiastic, and versatile Shipping Manager, you will excel at:

  • Determine the best shipping plan in consultation with project management, supply chain, and procurement;
  • Able to advise on strategies regarding duties & taxes related to global shipping;
  • Determine and negotiate the transport and packaging costs for projects and the associated risk assessment;
  • Monitor and analyze spend to optimize freight costs and ensure financial compliance.
  • Ensure trade compliance with (country-specific) transportation requirements;
  • Support procurement- and manufacturing teams on inbound flow from external suppliers;
  • Steer on continuous improvement and KPI’s and improve sustainability within the department;
  • Closely monitoring projects, measure (internal) performances and adjust accordingly;
  • Contribute to the transportation strategy by focusing on efficiency, reliability, and innovation;
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers.

What do we ask from you?

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, or Operations
  • A passion for logistics and shipping
  • Strong stakeholder management skills
  • Planning and organization skills
  • Being result-oriented
  • Knowledge about global forwarding (trade lanes, export documentation required)
  • An enthusiastic team player
  • Negotiating skills
  • Individual and team leadership and you enjoy coaching people
  • Knowledge about incoterms and the impact on duties & taxes
  • An excellent communicator in English (and preferably also in Dutch)
  • Knowledge of intermodal transportation is a plus
