Head of Funds Onboarding (APAC)

The Head of Funds Onboarding (APAC) will lead and manage the regional funds onboarding team, ensuring a seamless and efficient onboarding process for clients. This role involves strategic planning, operational excellence, client relationship management, and compliance adherence across Vistra's APAC funds business. The successful candidate will drive the growth of the funds onboarding division while maintaining Vistra's high standards of client service and operational efficiency.

Key requirements:

Leadership and Strategy:

• Develop and execute the strategy for the funds onboarding team in APAC, aligned with Vistra’s global business objectives.
• Build and lead a high-performing team of onboarding professionals, providing guidance, mentorship, and professional development opportunities.
• Collaborate with global and regional teams to ensure alignment of onboarding processes with organizational goals.

Client Onboarding and Relationship Management:

• Oversee the end-to-end client onboarding process for fund structures, ensuring a smooth transition to Vistra's operational platform.
• Act as a key point of escalation for high-value or complex client onboarding projects.
• Build strong relationships with key stakeholders, including clients, funds commercial teams, and service delivery teams.

Operational Excellence:

• Ensure compliance with all relevant local and international regulations, including AML/KYC, FATCA, CRS, and other fund-specific obligations.
• Identify, assess, and mitigate risks associated with the onboarding process for individual clients, and across the process as a whole.
• Partner with compliance teams to manage regulatory changes impacting onboarding activities.
• Leverage technology and automation tools to improve onboarding workflows and reduce manual effort.

Supporting Business Development and Growth:

• Support business development efforts by providing onboarding expertise in client pitches and proposals.
• Identify opportunities for cross-selling and upselling additional Vistra services during the onboarding process.
• Drive innovation in service delivery, leveraging technology and industry best practices to differentiate Vistra in the market.

Stakeholder Engagement:

• Act as a primary point of contact for APAC senior management, providing regular updates on Onboarding metrics, challenges, and opportunities.
• Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders such as legal, compliance, and IT departments to address complex onboarding issues.
• Serve as a trusted advisor to Relationship and Onboarding Managers, providing guidance on the onboarding processes.

Training and Development:

• Develop training programs and resources for the onboarding team to enhance their skills and knowledge.
• Foster a culture of continuous learning and professional development within the onboarding function.

Key requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, Business Administration, or a related field; advanced degree or certifications (e.g., MBA, CFA) preferred.
• CAMS Certification or other Compliance certification would be an advantage.
• 10+ years of experience in fund services, fund administration, or financial services, with a focus on client onboarding.
• Strong understanding of fund structures, including private equity and real estate.
• In-depth knowledge of AML/KYC, regulatory requirements, and industry standards for funds.
• Experience in managing large-scale, complex onboarding projects in the funds sector.
• Proven track record of successfully leading teams and driving operational efficiencies.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills with a client-centric approach.
