PostNL is changing to a more federated data management approach, shifting responsibility for data to the business organization in collaboration with IT teams. We need an experienced data architect to help us modernize both the Data Architecture and Data Management organization.

Dit is jouw rol

As a Data Architect you will be responsible for PostNL's data field across the company. You work together with the other Architects to establish and communicate the domain, target and reference architectures of the data domain.

You collaborate with the software development teams and their solution architects to design solutions that align with both our short-term and long-term goals. Keeping stakeholders well-informed about the architecture, you have a keen understanding of their inputs and are open to new solutions when adaptations are needed based on these insights. Representing the IT department in various multidisciplinary meetings, you play an important role in bridging communication gaps.

As a senior member of the IT team, you understand the responsibilities of guiding, coaching, and training less experienced colleagues. You are patient and explanatory when needed, yet assertive when the situation demands it. We expect you to actively contribute to our learning culture and help elevate it.

In your role as a data architect, you are also crucial in communicating our IT strategy, guidelines, and decisions. Whether providing input in meetings or presenting information to groups online or offline, your communication skills are vital in ensuring clarity and alignment across the organization.

You will be working in the Technology Strategy & Enablement organization. This team consists of specialists who have vast knowledge of architecture and PostNL. It is important to us that a new colleague lands well in the organization and will quickly feel at home within the team. At PostNL we have an open and informal culture and you will certainly experience this in the team.

The team is around 40 persons big and consists besides Architects of Chapter Leads, who are focused on growing communities around their focus area. We have Chapter leads for Engineering, Data, Business Analysis and Delivery. In our Technology Stategy team we also focus on IT Strategy, Sourcing Strategy, Portfolio Management and Innovation.

• A salary of € 5.559,- to a maximum of € 8.276,- gross per month (scale 13) for 37 hours.

• You have knowledge of the latest data architecture developments such as Data Mesh, Datafabric and Data Catalog and are able to translate these developments into choices for our organization.
• You understand the role that data management capabilities such as Master Data Management, Meta-data management and Data Cataloging play in the overall data architecture.
• You can coach and support a team of Data Architects in these new developments.
• You are strong in sharing and transferring your knowledge and have excellent communication skills.
• Experience building solutions with cloud data warehousing technology (Redshift, GCP BQ, Synapse) and/or (big) data platforms (Data Lake, Snowflake, Databricks) and knowledge of dimensional modeling (DataVault or Anchor is a plus.
