What are you going to do?

Would you like to work in a complex and challenging environment, where you will be involved in deploying the microservice architecture? As a DevOps Engineer at Nedap - Security, you get the freedom to make your own, technical choices.

As a DevOps Engineer, you are responsible for the deployment of our microservice applications, which must run automatically scaled, redundantly and efficiently. You start your day with a startup and you spar a lot with the other DevOps and Development engineers about the current/running stories. You will also be involved in the development and optimisation of CI/CD pipelines and the setting up of monitoring, and you will ensure that all these tasks are automated.

Your responsibilities

  • Automate: Automate infrastructure deployments with Terraform;
  • Support: Support teams in using the infrastructure;
  • Development: Develop deployment pipelines for services running in Nomad;
  • CI/CD: Continuous delivery (CI/CD) using Github (Actions), Maven/Gradle, Docker, Bash, Python;
  • DevOps champion: Encouraging a DevOps culture of automation, self-service and engineering best practices;
  • Advise: Challenging the development teams in architecture choices to get the best fitting SaaS solution from the point of view of scalability, maintainability, workability, etc.

Your team

At Nedap Security, you will work together in multidisciplinary product teams in an Agile/Scrum set-up. As a DevOps Engineer, you work together with other Devops Engineers, front-end and back-end developers and testers. Clear communication is essential in our collaboration! The team consists of a mix of personalities, knowledge and skills. We also work dynamically, which ensures little delay in terms of choices and processes. Besides your own team, you have a lot of contact with another team within Nedap that hosts the platform.

"There is an open and relaxed atmosphere within the team, everything can be discussed and there is always room and time to make improvements. The work is very dynamic, no day is the same and that's what makes it so much fun. In case of emergencies, people always jump in left and right where they can and the problem is really tackled as a team. Besides the daily work, there are also regular events, knowledge-sharing sessions and get-togethers." (Henk, DevOps engineer)

Our offer

As a DevOps Engineer at Nedap, you will make a valuable contribution to our goal: making people happier and more successful in their professional lives. In addition to your salary, you are entitled to a thirteenth month, a good pension scheme, and profit sharing with the opportunity to become a shareholder of Nedap. At Nedap, everything revolves around trust and autonomy. You determine your own working hours and vacation days. We also highly value personal and professional growth. You will receive a comprehensive introduction, and we encourage you to continuously develop yourself.

Required experience and skills

It is important in your role as a DevOps Engineer that you are supportive and service-minded towards the team. You can also stand behind your views in terms of content and can argue why things should be done in a certain way. Above all, it is important that you are constantly improving and optimising. You stand for quality and ensure that it is guaranteed throughout the process.

Furthermore, you recognise yourself in the following:

  • Experience: Minimum three years' experience as a DevOps Engineer or in a similar role;
  • Skills in tooling: Good knowledge of and experience with pipeline tooling such as Github actions, Jenkins, Azure DevOps, CircleCI etc;
  • Skills in scripting: Experience with scripting in Bash, and it is an advantage if you also have some experience in Python and/or JS;
  • Skills infrastructure: Experience managing infrastructure in production, as well as designing and creating build/deploy & monitoring systems;
