International Finance Traineeship - Ahold Delhaize

Being active in the U.S., Indonesia and Europe, our financial challenges do not stop at country borders. The International Finance Traineeship is a 3-year development program in which you get the opportunity to start your finance career at Ahold Delhaize.

To become a seasoned finance professional, you will have at least three rotations within or between our different brands and countries. The program is built on three pillars: social and business development; technical and functional skills; and leadership development. You experience retail from the corporate side by having functional skills training and by working on finance related projects. Engaging in international assignments will prepare you in becoming Ahold Delhaize’s next future leader. We stimulate cross-functional learning by organizing learning sessions, together with fellow Trainees and other inspiring colleagues.

What can you expect as an International Finance Trainee?

Year one: Connect, explore and learn

Your program begins in the Finance team of a brand in your home country, and you’ll be working with this brand for the duration of the year. You’ll learn what working for this brand entails, while discovering your own strengths and growth areas. You’ll develop business awareness, social skills and leadership skills. Lastly, you’ll focus on growing your financial expertise and get to see how our business – stores, distribution centers and online businesses – operate.

Year two: International rotation

Throughout your second year, you’ll experience everything that goes into working for a global omnichannel food retailer like Ahold Delhaize. As part of the Finance traineeship, you’ll get to do an international rotation within finance. During this rotation period, you'll live abroad, working for one of or great local brands in Europe or the United States. It’s a great opportunity to experience the differences between finance departments in various countries first hand. All your newfound knowledge and experience is of considerable value to our company and brands. On a personal level, you’ll gain a unique, broad overview of finance, management and omnichannel food retail.

Year three: Put it into practice / Hit the ground running

In your final year, you’ll reap the benefits of all the experiences and insights you’ve gained within the organization so far. You'll return to your home-brand, where you’ll get the opportunity to further develop your skills and build your experience, optimally preparing you for your future career within Ahold Delhaize’s Finance department. This is where you bring your know-how and expertise into practice. Working full time for one of our brands or support offices, you’ll use your financial knowledge and apply everything you’ve learned to the day-to-day responsibilities and tasks of your role.

As an International Finance Trainee, ideally, you…

• Hold a HBO/WO bachelor or a Master degree, or will have it by the start of the traineeship.
• Have two years (max) work experience.
• Have an excellent proficiency in English (level C1 or up).
• Reside in and are eligible to work in the Netherlands. Plus you’ll need to have a good understanding (written and spoken) of English and/or Dutch.
• Are excited and eager to start your development journey with us and possibly become the next senior leader within our international organization!
