KLM is on a mission to become the most data and technology driven airline in the world, and we need your help to make it happen! As a Business Product Analyst (BPA), you will be at the forefront of KLM's core airline process innovation, using the power of machine learning models to optimize fleet, crew, ground service, OCC and network operations.

We are searching for a BPA who understands the value of machine learning models and can translate that into tangible business value. You will work alongside Product Owners, Data Scientists, and Machine Learning Engineers, creating end-to-end machine learning models that people will love.

Our models aim to answer highly relevant questions such as how many meals are needed on board of each flight, how many ground staff are needed at the terminal, how many no-shows can we expect on our flights, and how much water or fuel is needed to optimize fuel consumption of a flight. With direct influence on the operations of KLM, there are plenty of opportunities to work on exciting projects that support KLM's mission of becoming a frontrunner in sustainable aviation.

But that's not all! As a member of our team, you will have the chance to work on innovation projects as part of the KickstartAI community, build market-leading AI solutions together with our partner BCG (airlineoperations.ai), contribute to partnerships with universities, present at Data Science Community events, and grow your knowledge and skills with KLM.

Don't miss out on the chance to see your machine learning solutions in action the next time you board a KLM flight. Apply now and become a part of the team that is revolutionizing the airline industry with the power of data.

What will you do?

As a Business Product Analyst (BPA), you are the driving force behind innovative solutions and well-functioning IT products. You will support the Product team in achieving the maximum value potential of the (machine learning) products by ensuring they are built to the right requirements, engage in data exploration, driving user adoption, and realizing changes in business processes.

As a BPA, you will continuously adjust the process design in close cooperation with users, gaining insight into their requirements and relative importance. This enables you to support the Product Owners in determining the relative importance of certain features from the user's point of view. You will also aid in determining the viability of use cases through investigating data quality and availability. Through analyses you will advise users on possible solutions.

When a tool is already in place, you will bring points of dissatisfaction to light and rectify them by translating user requirements into new product functions or collaborating with users to solve their problems in other ways. You will also help users adapt the product to their needs where possible. Your close relationship with users puts you in an excellent position to inspire the organization with opportunities for new products.

In addition to your day-to-day responsibilities, you are encouraged and expected to spend 15-20% of your time learning new things, doing research, and developing yourself. This can include following courses, webinars, reading papers, or working on cool hack projects with your colleagues. These projects must be related to your role but do not have to be related to the projects you normally work on.

Where do you land?

Get ready for an exciting work experience like no other! As part of our team, you'll have the chance to work in a hybrid environment, splitting your time between the comfort of your own home and the bustling office at Schiphol East. And with flexible working hours and office days, we'll make sure you find the perfect balance.

You'll be joining a team of experts, including 7 top-notch ML Engineers, 7 skilled Data Scientists, and 2 innovative Product Owners. Together, you'll work on exciting projects and build cutting-edge AI capabilities for KLM. And with our continuous growth, we're always on the lookout for talented individuals across all areas of expertise!

Our team is part of the larger Operations Decision Support (ODS) department, closely aligned with the Data and Technology platforms. This means you'll have the opportunity to collaborate with other data teams specializing in Operational Research, Operations Excellence, and Data Engineering.
