As a Control Systems Engineer (hardware), you will play a crucial role in designing and implementing the control algorithms for our domestic heating products. In this role, you will be responsible for enabling the development of prototypes and new products through data- and model-based control methodologies.
Develop gray-box/black-box models of HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) components like water tanks and heat pumps.
Design and refine control systems for domestic heating applications, ensuring energy efficiency and reliability objectives are met.
Implement low-level controls that enable rapid-prototyping of control algorithms.
Collaborate with HVAC hardware engineers to develop test setups and identify optimal sensor placements for modelling and control.
Develop/update simulation environments to test and compare control designs.
Work in cross-functional teams, including HVAC engineers, embedded software engineers and backend developers to integrate control algorithms into the products.
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, or a related field.
Demonstrated expertise in designing control algorithms and developing models for control.
Proficiency in MATLAB, Simulink and Python.
Familiarity with C/C++ is a plus.
Good understanding of control theory principles applicable to HVAC systems, including PID (Proportional-Integral-Derivative) control and Model Predictive Control.
Good understanding of thermodynamics, in particular heat transfer, is a plus.
You possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, enabling effective collaboration with diverse stakeholders.
You are full of energy, eager, and capable to learn and grow.

Quatt is an ambitious start-up that was founded in 2021 by two brothers. The goal is to accelerate the transition to sustainable heating in the Netherlands and abroad. Our first product is a smart, hybrid heat pump for the Dutch market.
Quatt wants to significantly increase heat pump adoption by improving the overall customer experience, adding smart control software, simplifying the installation job and, last but not least, greatly enhancing the aesthetics.
