We’re on a mission to accelerate the energy transition with sustainable home energy for all and it’s our goal to help 3 million households transition by 2030. That is why we're seeking a highly motivated and ambitious person that’s not afraid to make their hands dirty and make a real dent in the climate change challenge that we are already facing.

As a Control Systems Engineer (hardware), you will play a crucial role in designing and implementing the control algorithms for our domestic heating products. In this role, you will be responsible for enabling the development of prototypes and new products through data- and model-based control methodologies.

What you will bring:

  • Develop gray-box/black-box models of HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) components like water tanks and heat pumps.

  • Design and refine control systems for domestic heating applications, ensuring energy efficiency and reliability objectives are met.

  • Implement low-level controls that enable rapid-prototyping of control algorithms.

  • Collaborate with HVAC hardware engineers to develop test setups and identify optimal sensor placements for modelling and control.

  • Develop/update simulation environments to test and compare control designs.

  • Work in cross-functional teams, including HVAC engineers, embedded software engineers and backend developers to integrate control algorithms into the products.

What you wil need:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, or a related field.

  • Demonstrated expertise in designing control algorithms and developing models for control.

  • Proficiency in MATLAB, Simulink and Python.

  • Familiarity with C/C++ is a plus.

  • Good understanding of control theory principles applicable to HVAC systems, including PID (Proportional-Integral-Derivative) control and Model Predictive Control.

  • Good understanding of thermodynamics, in particular heat transfer, is a plus.

  • You possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, enabling effective collaboration with diverse stakeholders.

  • You are full of energy, eager, and capable to learn and grow.
