This is where you’ll end up

Your main focus will be on developing, improving and maintaining our technological landscape. You will help us build and maintain a large set of microservices, as well as our consumer-facing apps. All Vandebron developers have a full stack mindset, so we would value willingness to expand your knowledge and jump into (new) technologies in addition to the ones you are already familiar with. For this specific position we value proven expertise in building UIs (with React and preferably TypeScript) and microservices in Scala. Any other proven experience in functional programming (e.g. Kotlin, Clojure, Java 8+) or frontend libraries (e.g. Angular, Vue) is a plus. You will be surrounded by a diverse team that strives to push each other forward, and you will become an integral part of this by also sharing your own knowledge and expertise. In addition you will also work closely with our designers, product owners and stakeholders to help shape the future of Vandebron.

What are you going to do?

• Writing code to implement features and improve the (web/mobile) apps and microservices that serve our customers
• Reviewing code from other software engineers within your own Scrum team and throughout the Digital team
• Discussing and collaboratively solving software engineering and product problems with other software engineers, designers and stakeholders
• Actively sharing knowledge with other software engineers across the company in our "Guilds" structure
• Mentoring and coaching other engineers within the Digital team
• Working, with the help from your manager and other members of your team, to actively grow your own career

This is how you make a difference

• You have a minimum of 3 years of working experience as a backend software engineer
• You have proven experience in building backend (micro)services, Scala is a must
• You have solid experience in functional programming
• Bonus points if you have experience in building web applications (React experience strongly preferred)
• Bonus points if you have experience building mobile applications (preferably React Native)
• You are a quick learner who values personal development by keeping up-to-date by reading books, tutorials, blogs and joining meetups
• You are a passionate developer and you motivate the developers around you (by sharing your knowledge and your enthusiasm)
• You are familiar with software testing methodologies and frameworks
• You are familiar with Docker
• You are motivated for the mission of Vandebron
