At Eneco, everything revolves around innovation in sustainable energy and advanced IT solutions, where you can play a crucial role in achieving climate neutrality by 2035. With us, you contribute to environmentally friendly energy solutions within the innovative Asset Operations department. The introduction of IoT, starting with smart heat meters, has revolutionized the optimization of energy assets, ranging from heat networks to wind and solar parks. In this, you get an active role in creating a more sustainable energy system for the future.

A good example of what you will work on is the project for Rijkswaterstaat. The question was how we can reduce the ecological impact of a wind farm. For example, by protecting migratory birds that die from a collision with a wind turbine blade. It soon became clear that we could reuse an existing IoT solution for this. A radar that detects flying objects uses the same communication protocols. We then connected the radar to our data platform alongside the wind farm controller. Now we can shut down the turbines when there are birds nearby.

In your role as a IoT DevOps engineer, your tasks and responsibilities are clearly delineated to ensure the efficient operation and continuous improvement of our Asset Connectivity Platform. This platform plays a pivotal role in monitoring and steering sustainable energy assets like wind and solar farms, batteries, and energy users. Your main tasks are:

  • Analyze processes and data streams to identify areas for optimization.
  • Onboard new types of assets to the IoT platform, integrating them seamlessly.
  • Connection of IoT assets to the platform using protocols such as MQTT, AMQP
  • Finetuning of Azure services (IOT Event Hub), analysis of data (data storage services such as Azure Data Explorer)
  • Working with container automation and Azure functions.
  • Responsible for the authorization and authentications (key rotation, certificates)
  • Optimizing the IoT platform for scalability, performance and availablity
  • Coach and guide junior developers, providing them with the support and knowledge they need to grow and succeed.
  • Actively contribute to the improvement of the platform's quality and stability, ensuring it meets high standards.
  • Take ownership as the epic owner for one or more major platform epics, leading these initiatives to successful completion.
  • Maintain the IoT platform, ensuring it is up-to-date with the latest technologies and best practices.
  • Automate processes to improve efficiency and reduce manual workload.
  • Work collaboratively with the development team and architecture on technical designs, bringing in your expertise to shape the platform's future.
  • Manage the 24x7 standby responsibilities that come with running a mission-critical environment, ensuring high availability and reliability.
  • IMPORTANT: As a member of the IoT team you will participate in a 24x7 standby scheme.
  • At least 5 years' experience with Azure and CI/CD pipelines or other cloud platforms.
  • Knowledge of IoT, Industrial IoT, data engineering or similar fields.
  • Advanced knowledge of containerization (e.g. Openshift Kubernetes).
  • Experience with Javascript, TypeScript, Python or .NET preferred.
  • Experience leading or coaching other developers.
  • Proactive, hands-on and energetic
  • Take ownership and show positivity throughout your work.

You will work directly with 14 colleagues: a Scrum Master, Solutions consultant, IoT engineers with different specialties. We work in an informal and flexible way with a lot of freedom. The atmosphere is open, with plenty of room for your own initiative and ideas. Our company policy is working hybrid where we go to the office twice a week.

We understand that you might want to know more before taking the next step in your career. Therefore, we encourage you to get in touch with our recruiter, Mark van Dommelen. Whether you have questions about the interview process, the specific tasks and responsibilities of the position, or are simply curious about the company culture, we are ready to answer all your questions.

Voor het invullen van deze vacature doen we de werving graag zelf en wensen we niet samen te werken met externe partijen.
