As a Barclays DSPE Classic Platform Engineer, you will work within our DSPE Classic Toolchain function. The intent of this function is to provide technical product ownership for all the Classic DevOps Tooling and to maintain and improve the tool offerings to our internal customers. You will have an opportunity to join Developer Services Platform Engineering (DSPE), which is part of our Chief Technology Office. DSPE is a team dedicated to improving the day-to-day experience of being a developer at Barclays.

What will you be doing?

Acting as Technical Product Owner for the existing DSPE Classic Toolchain (Bitbucket, Nexus, GitLab, Jenkins, Teamcity, Jira, Confluence,Sonarqube)

Improvising the Technical architecture of the product (how it is deployed, run to be resilient etc) by working closely with Enablement team leads

Collaborating with other peer teams overseeing SRE function and other functions across DSPE Toolchain (Service Management, peer platform and enablement teams)

Leveraging expertise in IaC methodologies to transform existing tool configurations into code and take initiatives to codify the Infrastructure

Identifying and implementing improvements to our Classic Toolchain and Processes

Enhancing resilience, reliability, and performance, reducing manual overhead and promoting automation across operations

Leading the deployment of new versions of software and configurations across environments using automated pipelines

What we’re looking for:

Extensive hands-on experience in DevOps tools including but not limited to Sonatype Nexus, SonarSource SonarQube, Chef, Jenkins, TeamCity, JIRA/Confluence

Extensive hands-on experience with AWS for application hosting and with Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform, Chef and AWS CloudFormation

Wide Application/Service Support Experience

Proficient developing in a major programming language such as Java, Python, scripting languages like Bash and PowerShell beneficial

Skills that will help you in the role:

Experience with containerization technologies

Background in engineering

Extensive multi-year hands-on experience with SQL databases ideally MS SQL and Postgres

Good knowledge on Release, Deployment and Change management process (ITIL)
