About Flexport HS&E

Flexport is committed to an incident-free workplace in both office and warehouse environments. We emphasize proactive involvement, accountability, continuous improvement, and adherence to all applicable federal, state, and local regulations. This role is pivotal to advancing a best-in-class HS&E culture across our Omni facilities and supporting offices.

Role Summary

The Senior Manager, HS&E – Omni Facilities is a hands-on leader who will hit the ground running to elevate HS&E performance across five key Omni fulfillment facilities and, as needed, our office locations. The role combines program ownership with initiative leadership: driving compliance and risk reduction, launching new safety innovations, and overseeing cross-functional projects from scoping through execution and sustainment. The ideal candidate brings strong regulatory fluency, warehouse operations understanding, project management discipline, and the ability to influence site leaders and frontline teams to deliver measurable results.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead HS&E strategy and execution for five Omni facilities, partnering with Site Leads and Operations to maintain compliance with all applicable regulations and internal standards for warehouse and office environments.
  • Own the HS&E roadmap for Omni operations, identifying high-impact initiatives and delivering them end-to-end, including business case, stakeholder alignment, implementation, change management, and KPI tracking.
  • Strengthen and operationalize core general industry programs (e.g., Hazard Communication, Emergency Action Planning, Walking-Working Surfaces, Fire Prevention and Extinguishers, PPE, Recordkeeping) and close operational gaps typical to warehouse environments (e.g., powered industrial trucks, machine guarding, lockout/tagout), tailoring controls to each site’s risk profile.
  • Stand up and continuously improve inspection, audit, and self-assessment mechanisms; create visible action plans; drive timely corrective and preventive action closure; and report trends and risk insights to leadership.
  • Develop and maintain site-specific emergency preparedness, evacuation routes, muster protocols, and drill cadence; coordinate Safety Warden/Emergency Response programs and post-incident reviews.
  • Build and maintain a scalable training matrix for general office and general warehouse topics; ensure role-based training, refreshers, and competency validation are in place, accurate, and documented.
  • Partner with Site Leads on daily management of safety controls in dynamic warehouse settings, including pedestrian-vehicle separation, dock safety, racking standards and inspections, housekeeping, and incident prevention routines.
  • Lead incident investigations using root cause methodologies; oversee corrective actions, lessons-learned communications, and prevention playbooks across sites.
  • Establish practical leading and lagging metrics; calibrate goals for injury reduction, audit closure rates, training compliance, and risk remediation; publish regular performance dashboards.
  • Collaborate with Facilities, Security, HR, Legal/Compliance, and Operations on cross-functional risks (e.g., workplace violence prevention, sanitation, first aid/medical services, electrical safety).
  • Serve as a subject-matter resource for office locations as needed, ensuring office safety standards, emergency readiness, and training remain current and effective.
  • Manage vendor and third-party relationships supporting HS&E programs, as applicable; oversee documentation, record retention, and readiness for regulatory or client audits.
  • Champion a culture of safety ownership, coaching Site Leads and frontline teams on hazard identification, stop-work authority, and continuous improvement behaviors.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Health, Industrial Engineering, Operations, or related field; or equivalent practical experience.
  • 7+ years of HS&E experience with significant exposure to high-velocity warehouse, fulfillment, distribution, or manufacturing environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and operationalize HS&E programs in multi-site settings; strong working knowledge of general industry expectations for warehouses and offices.
  • Proven project/program leadership delivering business-impacting initiatives from concept to sustainment, with clear KPI attainment.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills; effective at influencing site and senior leaders and driving adoption at the frontline.
  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency with HS&E metrics, audit data, and corrective action management systems.
  • OSHA 40 Hour General Industry Certification

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional certification(s) such as CSP, CHMM, ASP, CIH, CSHM, or PMP.
  • Experience standing up and maturing programs common to warehouse operations (e.g., PIT/forklift safety, LOTO, machine guarding, racking safety, dock and yard management, pedestrian safety).
  • Experience designing role-based training matrices, site drill programs, and competency validation for both warehouse and office settings.
  • Familiarity with incident investigation methods (e.g., TapRooT, 5-Whys) and risk assessment frameworks.
  • Experience working with third-party logistics providers, client audits, or regulatory inspections.

Work Environment and Travel

  • Based at or near one of the key Omni facilities; regular on-site presence expected.
  • Travel to supported sites and office locations as required to support audits, training, projects, and incident response. (20%)
