Internship Sustainability Risk ABN AMRO

Are you passionate about sustainability and ready to play a key role in managing Environmental, Social, Governance (ESG) risks at ABN AMRO? Are you interested in developing analytical skills related to climate, pollution, biodiversity, human rights or animal rights risks?

Then the ABN AMRO Sustainability Risk team is looking for you as their next intern!

We use our expertise to support clients in their financial decisions and in doing so, we create long-term value for them, our colleagues, investors, and society at large. As part of Risk Management, Sustainability Risk delivers sound and simple risk management solutions to increase our resilience while enabling our clients’ success and the bank’s growth.

Work environment

ABN AMRO is a leading Dutch bank, with an international presence. The Sustainability Risk team is part of the Risk Management function and responsible for managing Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) related risks ABN AMRO is exposed to. We work closely together with experts from across the bank and with sustainability specialists from outside the bank to co-create and fulfil data needs.

Our team consists of senior and junior professionals with a mix of knowledge and skills in the field of ESG, risk management and data.

Your job

You will become part of the Sustainability Risk team and will provide support on one or more topics the team is working on. Examples include:

• Translate developments in science and societal issues into actions for the bank
• Support the evaluation of the materiality of ESG events on the bank’s profitability and reputation
• Policy requirements to limit biodiversity loss for our lending activities
• Transition or physical risk heatmapping
• Enhancing ESG sector and country rating methodologies
• Facilitate ESG data sourcing and storage
• Implementation of sustainability regulations
• And much more!

Your profile

• You are a Bsc / Msc Student
• You are available for approximately 6 months
• Knowledge of or affinity with environmental, social and governance related risks
• Curious and analytical at heart: you are eager to learn about new topics and your analytical skills are well developed: you are able to identify, deconstruct and solve problems
• Proactive, communicative and independent: you take initiatives to solve issues and are not shy to give your opinion and to ask for assistance
• Professional working proficiency in English is a must; professional working proficiency (especially spoken) in Dutch is strongly preferred
• Team-player: you can easily reach out to and collaborate with colleagues, either helping them out or requesting assistance. You are interested to get to know the people in the team.
