Being a gatekeeper to the financial system is easier said than done. In the rapidly evolving field of sanctions compliance, staying ahead means continuously adapting and optimizing models to ensure robust risk coverage across millions of clients and transactions. As a Data Scientist in this team that is part of the FEC Tech department, you will play a key role in developing innovative methods to mitigate sanctions risks and translating business requirements into model features.

  • Perform data analysis uncovering common sanctions circumvention patterns.
  • Aid in developing statistical models that suppress false positive sanctions alerts.
  • Develop a business case for how network data can detect sanctions violations.

  • Translate business requirements surrounding sanctions circumvention risk into model features.
  • Using data analysis identify sanctions risk gaps and initiate proposals to cover them.
  • Developing proof of concepts for new statistical models in a project team of 2-3 other data scientists.

The 12 people in the Sanctions Tech Innovation team develop innovative data-driven methods that strengthen Rabobank’s sanctions detection capabilities. Collaboration defines how we work: as one results driven and data-minded team within Rabobank.

You & your talent

  • You have a background in Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Econometrics or a related quantitative field.
  • You have at least 2 years of experience in advanced data science in a regulated environment.
  • Extensive hands-on experience in Python for developing and testing statistical models; experience with PySpark, SQL and Azure DevOps is a plus.
  • You enjoy working in a high-stakes environment, with both complex internal stakeholder fields as well as regulatory influences.
  • You are comfortable challenging the status quo continuously, identify problems and focus on delivering crafty solutions.
  • You demonstrate sound communication skills in translating complex technical insights into straightforward recommendations for non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience with application productization and implementation of CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps is a distinct advantage.

  • You must be located in the Netherlands; re-location is not possible for this role.
