Junior Application Specialist R&D

We are looking for a Junior Application Specialist for the Performance and Active Nutrition market in EMEA—a hands-on professional with a can-do attitude and a critical technical mind.

You are passionate about developing innovative solutions, sharing knowledge, and staying ahead of market trends. You will support the execution of the application roadmap, support customer application projects, document your findings, and proactively exchange insights with colleagues. Your understanding of our broad ingredient portfolio will enable you to create exciting applications that meet evolving consumer needs.

• Strong technical background in Food Technology, with a preference of practical expertise in dairy protein and health benefit ingredients with a minimum of WO degree.
• A hands-on, proactive mindset with creativity, analytical skills, and the ability to build strong relationships across teams (TSS, Marketing, Product Development, Sales, Supply Chain, QA, suppliers, and customers).
• Ability to work independently while thriving in a collaborative team environment.

As a Junior Application Specialist, you will play a key role in developing innovative applications for the Sports and Active Nutrition segment using our broad portfolio of ingredients. Your work will directly support growth and strengthen relationships with customers in the dynamic Performance and Active Nutrition market across the EMEA region.

You will be responsible for creating a variety of applications—such as protein bars, high protein yoghurts, protein shakes, high protein RTDs, and more—leveraging FrieslandCampina Ingredients’ extensive portfolio. Collaboration is essential: you will work closely with our EMEA application Specialist and EMEA Technical Sales Specialists (TSS) as well with application experts, TSS Experts, Sales Managers, and Marketing to deliver solutions that meet customer needs. Additionally, you will support the EMEA application specialist, EMEA Marketing and EMEA TSS to design new ingredient combinations tailored to specific applications and support internal and external tasting sessions and events.

Ons team

You will join the FrieslandCampina Ingredients Development Team, consisting of about 75 R&D colleagues. Within this larger team, you will work in the EMEA Technical Sales Team, which includes 4 Technical Sales Specialists and 2 Application Specialists focused on Adult and Early Life Nutrition markets.

This position is based at our Innovation Center in Wageningen, with regular collaboration at our Amersfoort office alongside Sales and Marketing teams. Travel within the EMEA region might be required for events, supplier visits, TPMs and customer visits.
