Introduction

The ASML BLAPPS department develops a wide range of tools and applications to support monitoring, control, and issue analysis in semiconductor fabs. These solutions are produced by different teams for distinct use cases, using diverse languages, frameworks, and deployment models—from JavaFX and Delphi desktop clients to React based web applications. Maintaining this heterogeneous technology stack and multiple deployment targets is inefficient and costly. Consequently, availability is inconsistent: some applications are accessible to Customer Support (CS), while others are only available to customers, because not all deployment platforms are supported across both groups.

Your assignment

ASML is transitioning to an on‑premises cloud platform, the Virtual Computing Platform (VCP), which provides scalable resources for workloads ranging from web applications to long‑running processing pipelines. Many analytics, monitoring, and control solutions now run on VCP. However, several legacy desktop applications remain unmigrated. For example, we have a metrology data diagnostics tool which is still a desktop client and not available as a VCP‑accessible web application.

This internship will explore AI‑assisted approaches to accelerate the migration of desktop applications to the web. As a proof of concept, the project will select one existing desktop tool and deliver a functional web‑based version running on VCP.

Your profile

To be suitable for the internship, you:

  • Are pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, software engineering or data science.
  • Have affinity with at least one of the AI-based software development tools: GitHub, Copilot, Cursor or LangChain.
  • Have knowledge of Java and web development.
  • Are eager to learn, curious, and proactive in exploring new technologies.
  • Ideally have experience with React, but this is not required.

Other requirements you need to meet:

  • You are enrolled at an educational institute for the entire duration of the internship.
  • You need to be located in the Netherlands to be perform your internship. In case you are currently living/studying outside of the Netherlands, your CV/motivation letter includes the willingness to relocate.
  • If you are a non-EU citizen, studying in the Netherlands, your university is willing to sign the documents relevant for doing an internship (i.e., Nuffic agreement).

We're moving technology forward
In fact, we’re probably a part of the electronic device you’re using right now. Our lithography technology is fundamental to mass producing semiconductor chips. With it, the world’s top chipmakers are creating microchips that are more powerful, faster and energy efficient.
