Are you able to juggle a variety of tasks and work in a dynamic environment, liaising with management, (investment) specialists and other stakeholders? Do you know what the challenges and complexities of an asset manager are? And are you able to translate these challenges into an effective internal control environment?

Job description

We are currently looking for an Operational Risk Manager with a strong focus on Operational Incident Management. In this role, you will own and coordinate the full lifecycle of operational incidents across the organization. You ensure adequate incident management - from analysis and remediation to escalation and reporting - safeguarding operational resilience and client trust.

This role is ideal for a risk professional who thrives in a dynamic environment, communicates with confidence, and can bring structure and clarity during complex and/or time‑sensitive events.

Department

The Operational Risk Management (ORM) team, part of Risk Management and reporting directly to the CFRO, operates independently from Robeco’s first line functions. The team consists of 10 skilled risk specialists who each have their own expertise but also collaborate closely as backup for one another due to the team’s relatively small size and Robeco’s scope.

Ultimately, Robeco’s business departments and the Executive Committee are accountable for managing their operational risks. Our role is to support informed decision-making, taking into account risk/return balance.

Responsibilities include maintaining and developing the Robeco Control Framework through risk assessments, incident analysis, and control monitoring. We provide assurance to clients and stakeholders via ISAE reports, SOx reporting, and in-control statements. ORM collaborates closely with Legal, Compliance, and Internal Audit across these activities.

Position & Requirements

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as central point of contact for operational incidents across the organization.
  • Validate and register incidents in the Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) system MetricStream.
  • Lead the incident analysis, including impact assessments, root cause analyses, and corrective actions.
  • Coordinate with business stakeholders, Technology, Compliance, Legal, Security, and external providers.
  • Escalate major incidents to senior management and support regulatory notifications.
  • Prepare incident reports and insights for clients, risk committees, and ExCo.
  • Monitor follow‑up actions and track timely closure.
  • Conduct quarterly incident trend analysis, thematic reviews, and lessons learned.
  • Ensure adherence to internal policies and regulatory requirements (e.g. DORA, CPS 230).
  • Contribute to ongoing improvements of the incident management framework, tools and related processes.

What You Bring

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Risk Management, Business Administration, Economics, or related field.
  • At least 4 years of experience in operational risk, incident management, internal control - preferably in financial services or asset management.
  • Understanding of operational processes across business, operations, and IT.
  • Familiarity with GRC systems such as MetricStream, or similar.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong analytical skills and structured problem‑solving capability.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex situations clearly.
  • Proactive mindset with strong ownership and attention to detail.
  • Ability to remain calm, assertive, and solution‑oriented in high‑pressure situations.
  • Effective stakeholder management across multiple departments and seniority levels.
  • Strong integrity, risk awareness, and sound professional judgment.

Preferred (Nice to Have)

  • Professional certifications such as FRM, CRMA, CISA, CISM, or ORM.
  • Experience with regulatory frameworks such as DORA, EBA guidelines and ESMA requirements.

What We Offer

  • A highly visible role within a key risk discipline and an environment that welcomes personal input and initiative.
  • Opportunity to contribute directly to the resilience of a global asset manager in an international, dynamic and rapidly changing environment.
  • A collaborative team of skilled risk professionals.
  • Competitive compensation package and excellent development opportunities.
  • Hybrid working environment with flexibility and autonomy.
