Join SBM Offshore as a Senior Category Buyer for Piping Bulks

Purpose

  • As Senior Category Buyer for Piping Bulks (Piping, Fittings & Flanges), you are responsible for the negotiation and contractualization of long-term agreements with Strategic Partners as identified in the Category strategy, with the main objective to increase SBM competitiveness and security of supply.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Category Manager Piping Bulks in the effective management of strategic suppliers by monitoring vendor financial data, load level, capacity, and investment plans, and performing market analysis.
  • Ensure that commercial agreements align with project and operational needs, delivering benefits such as simplification, competitive pricing, and manufacturing slot reservations.
  • Incorporate lessons learned into vendor commercial improvement monitoring.
  • Deliver Frame Agreements according to the defined contracting plan and Category Strategy targets.
  • Lead supplier qualification activities for vendors identified as strategic within the category.
  • Draft project-specific pre-agreements, Memoranda of Understanding (MoU), and slot reservations.
  • Support negotiations with suppliers for key packages and services, utilizing benchmarks and cost breakdown models, and integrating Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) parameters.
  • Identify risks and opportunities related to vendors and the market, such as mergers and acquisitions.
  • Support Project & Operations teams in managing vendor relationships at risk, including dispute and claims resolution, manufacturing performance, and slot allocation.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, business administration, or a related field, with a strong understanding of the technical aspects of the products represented.

Experience

  • Previous experience in procurement, supply chain management, or account management within the oil and gas sector or the bulk piping industry.
  • Strong negotiation skills and the ability to build effective relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  • Analytical mindset with proficiency in data analysis and market research.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and project management skills.
  • Market knowledge of targeted products.
  • Strong commercial acumen and negotiation skills.
  • Expertise in Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) methodology.
  • Mastery in creating cost breakdown models.
  • Good understanding of the products in your category, working closely with technical stakeholders.
  • Understanding of the capabilities of key vendors and their sub-vendors, including manufacturing processes, execution, and subcontracting models.
