Join Tony’s Chocolonely as a Sustainability Reporting Intern

Why we are here
Tony’s Chocolonely is committed to ending exploitation in cocoa. We are an impact company that makes chocolate, not a chocolate company that makes an impact. With incredibly tasty chocolate, we lead by example, demonstrating that ethical practices and success can go hand in hand. Through Tony's Open Chain (TOC), mission allies like Albert Heijn, Ben & Jerry's, Jokolade, and Aldi have embraced a fairer, more transparent supply chain for their chocolate too.

Now we are looking for a Sustainability Reporting Intern to join our team in Amsterdam! This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in sustainability reporting with both the Tony's Chocolonely and Tony's Open Chain teams, including working on our legendary Annual Fair Report and Annual Impact Report.

Here’s what you’ll learn:

  • Sustainability reporting and standards: Gain understanding of reporting frameworks such as GRI and impact P&L.
  • Impact assessment and supply chain sustainability: Develop skills in impact measurement and communication, focusing on the cocoa supply chain and fair trade.
  • Reporting processes and data management: Learn how to prepare and structure annual sustainability reports and explore innovations in reporting.
  • Audit preparation and compliance: Gain knowledge of audit and assurance processes by supporting updates to audit manuals.
  • Teamwork and project coordination: Build project management and collaboration skills with sustainability-focused teams.

Here’s what you’ll do:

  • Assist with preparing for the Annual Fair Report: Wrap up learnings from the previous year and support data collection, validation, narrative building, and structuring sustainability disclosures.
  • Research and pilot innovations in reporting: Explore topics such as impact P&L and stakeholder communication.
  • Support in updating audit manuals: Help update documentation for external auditors.
  • Prepare internal presentations and summaries: Support internal stakeholders and KPI owners with reporting, and collaborate on developing new reporting templates, dashboards, and communication tools.

Job requirements:

  • You’re studying for an HBO/university degree in sustainability and are looking to gain practical experience in sustainability reporting.
  • Raising the bar: Challenge yourself and team Tony’s to increase our ambition and accomplish our mission. Make mistakes along the way and learn from them.
  • You live our core values and believe wholeheartedly in Tony’s mission.

Here are the hard facts:

  • Starting on February 3rd, you'll be part of our Tony's team for 6 months.
  • You will be available for a working internship for 4-5 days a week.
  • We value being more in person than apart; we offer flexibility but expect to see each other in our Amsterdam office on average 3 days a week (more is fine too!).
  • You're comfortable working in English as a member of our international Tony's team.
  • You’ll be living in the Netherlands and enrolled in an HBO/university for the duration of the internship.

Here's what you can expect from us:

  • You'll be part of an enthusiastic team of driven colleagues who share your love for Tony's and our commitment to ending exploitation in cocoa. We're a fast-growing international company, and we believe in doing things differently.
  • As an intern, you'll have the opportunity to directly contribute to the success of Tony's Chocolonely. You'll be challenged to raise the bar and make a real impact in the world.
  • You'll have 14 vacation days over the six-month period, and we'll provide you with a monthly €550 internship allowance for a full-time (40 h/week) internship.
  • Our office in Amsterdam Houthavens is a pretty sweet workplace – you'll enjoy a fresh and tasty lunch, plenty of snacks, and of course, you get to take home as much chocolate as you can carry. We know how to work hard, but we also know how to have fun.

Sounds like you?

If you're ready to take the chocolate industry to new heights with us, we'd love to hear from you!

Tony’s Chocolonely wants to make all chocolate 100% slave free. Not just our chocolate, but all chocolate worldwide. Not exactly the average company, right? Instead a chocolate company whose primary goal is to resolve a social issue in the world.
