As a Specialist in Operational Capacity Management at Alliander, you play a vital role in securing a reliable and future-proof energy grid. In an increasingly autonomous and data-driven environment, you monitor and manage short-term grid capacity to keep our network safe and stable. Working alongside a team of experts, you help shape the energy system of tomorrow.

The energy transition is impossible without you as Specialist Operational Capacity Management

As a Specialist in Operational Capacity Management within System Operations, you play a crucial role in monitoring and managing the short-term (0–48 hours) capacity of the electricity grid. You’ll work in a highly automated environment where your actions help prevent overloads and ensure grid safety. Your work is essential to building a smart, reliable, and future-proof energy network.

You’ll be working on:

  • Monitoring the grid and intervening when human action is required in an otherwise autonomous system.
  • Interpreting data from the GAAS platform to identify and resolve potential bottlenecks.
  • Handling incidents in collaboration with control rooms, experts, and customers.
  • Defining alarms and configuring dashboards to enable timely responses to anomalies.
  • Reporting insights and KPIs and contributing to process improvements.
  • Supporting the contract intake process in cooperation with Market Services.
  • Translating theoretical knowledge into practical procedures and working methods.
  • Sharing findings with colleagues and advising primarily at the operational level.

You make the grid more complete at Alliander

Did you know Alliander consists of several companies working together to build a reliable and future-proof energy grid? With a large team of skilled professionals, we develop and manage the energy grid for millions of residents and businesses in the Netherlands. Everything we do is with care for the people who rely on us: our customers. And thanks to our talented people, we have full confidence in the energy future of the Netherlands. Together with you, we make the energy transition possible—for and with our customers.

And you’ll do that at our business unit Alliander. Your impact on tomorrow’s energy grid starts at System Operations.

That’s only possible if you have enough energy—and the right environment gives you that. Within System Operations, you’ll work alongside ambitious, and internationally oriented colleagues to develop an autonomous, safe, and resilient energy system. In the Operations team, you’ll ensure the grid is used to its full potential and that we can respond quickly to disruptions or capacity issues.

You make the grid more energetic

You know how to turn data into action and maintain oversight in a dynamic environment. You do that with your own strength and talent. And you do that with us. Will you contribute with your analytical skills and operational focus? And complement that with:

  • A minimum of HBO+ level education and 1–3 years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience analyzing and interpreting data to solve problems.
  • Knowledge of energy networks, predictive models, and/or energy systems.
  • Ability to advise independently at the operational level.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively.
  • Fluency in English, given the international nature of the organization.

Customer focus comes naturally to you. You understand that everything we do ultimately impacts our customers—and you act accordingly.

Better arranged for you

Based on a 40-hour workweek, you’ll receive:

  • A gross monthly salary ranging from €4,002 to €5,717 (scale 8).
  • An annual Individual Choice Budget (IKB) of 18% (full-time) or 12.8% (part-time) of your gross annual salary. This includes 8% holiday allowance. You can choose to have this amount paid out, or use it to purchase additional leave days. You decide what suits you best.
  • 24.5 vacation days per year, which you can easily supplement using your IKB.
  • A year-end bonus in December of 6% of your annual salary.
  • An annual Sustainable Employability (DI) budget of €500. Use it, for example, to cover costs for sports or hobbies, make your home more sustainable and green, or reduce your student loan with DUO. You decide where your budget goes.
