Legal Manager - M&A and Projects (NL/BE)

As Legal Manager – M&A and Projects, you will be involved in and manage legal M&A work in the EU and, if needed, globally for the Ahold Delhaize organization. You will support portfolio expansion together with the relevant brand legal teams and involve EU / AD Group senior and executive management. Your activities will be relevant in portfolio expansion and require close collaboration with brand legal teams and senior management.

Key responsibilities of your role

You will provide legal advice in project teams across the organization, in a broad range of projects and matters that are of strategic and business importance to Ahold Delhaize. This may involve assisting with complex or high-stakes matters such as M&A, litigations, regulatory matters, new business initiatives or business solutions or partnerships, or other sensitive or strategic projects that require timely and well-considered legal solutions to support the organization’s goals while mitigating risks and establishing adequate compliance.

As legal advisor and legal project manager, you will help enhance interconnectivity and alignment between different teams in the organization. Management of outside counsel is also part of your responsibilities.

Your role is highly diverse and encompasses various responsibilities, including:

• M&A legal focus: Provide legal advice on M&A matters. Advise brand legal teams towards successful signing, closing, and implementation of new acquisitions, divestitures, or mergers.
• Projects: Manage strategic projects from a legal perspective, actively participate in and facilitate problem-solving sessions, and lead the legal design and follow-up on projects that support and improve the strategic position of Ahold Delhaize.
• Ad hoc legal advice: Provide advice on a range of legal topics as they arise, delivering clear, accurate, and actionable guidance using a crisp and actionable communication style.

Requirements

We think you’ll be best geared for success if you meet the following requirements:

• At least 4-5 years of experience in a similar role or in corporate/M&A practice at a law firm or as in-house counsel
• Master degree of Law
• Excellent in English; Dutch and other languages are a plus
• Ability to work independently and autonomously
• Strong coordination skills
• Ability to take the lead to get things done and communicate throughout the business
