Bachelor Internship: Azure Cloud Cost Optimization

We are looking for a motivated intern to explore and analyze cost-saving opportunities within our Azure cloud environment.

In this position, you will explore and analyze cost-saving opportunities within our Azure cloud environment. The intern will focus on leveraging Azure features such as auto-scaling, elastic pools, pay-as-you-go pricing, and efficient management of App Service Plans to reduce cloud expenditure. You will analyze our current Azure cloud setup and usage patterns, research Azure features and best practices for cost optimization, evaluate the compatibility of our software with Azure cost-saving options, and propose actionable recommendations for cost reduction. In collaboration with our technical team, you will implement selected optimizations and prepare a comprehensive report detailing findings, recommendations, and implemented solutions.

Jouw profiel

We are looking for an enthusiastic HBO student who is pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. The skills below are applicable to you.

• Basic understanding of cloud computing, preferably with Azure experience.
• Familiarity with Azure services such as App Service Plans, auto-scaling, and elastic pools is a plus.
• Analytical mindset with the ability to assess and optimize cloud resources.
• Good communication skills to document and present findings.
• Self-motivated and eager to learn.

Afdeling

This internship will take place within our Marketing and Sales department, where we manage applications that support our customers across Trucksales, Aftersales, Commercial Services, and Parts Sales. These applications are hosted both on-premises and in cloud environments. Our goal is to ensure the delivery of stable applications that maximize uptime for our customers, while effectively managing and optimizing the associated operational costs.

Our technical application managers team consists of 5 people. They work closely together with the IT managers, Functional application managers, architects and developers to support all the applications within the Marketing and Sales department.

Our cloud application costs are mostly determined by a fixed monthly fee. In most cases, we allocate a static amount of resources to our applications throughout the entire day. Consequently, the same level of resources remains available during off-peak hours as during peak demand periods. Although we are aware of the automatic scaling capabilities, these have not been adequately implemented or widely understood within our department.
