About the role

As a Business Development Manager, you will strengthen CarbonLeap’s position in the market and expand our impact. You focus on the demand side of the market: discovering new business vertical opportunities, building new relationships, and advising existing clients on how our solutions can help them reduce CO₂ and capture commercial value.

You will bring structure and discipline to our sales process, using tools like HubSpot to track leads, manage pipelines, and ensure consistent follow-up. You’re comfortable combining face-to-face events with proactive outreach, including cold calling and targeted messaging, to generate high-quality leads.

Your approach combines consultative selling, commercial negotiation, and a go-getter mindset: you listen carefully, think strategically with the client, persist through challenges, and structure deals to maximize impact and mutual value.

You will work closely with the Commercial Managers, who focus on the supply side. While you explore the market, capture client needs, and initiate deals, they take care of product development, refinement, and implementation. Together, you ensure demand and supply meet effectively.

What you’ll do

  • Identify and pursue opportunities in the market and turn them into concrete collaborations.
  • Advise clients on how CarbonLeap solutions can help reduce CO₂ while creating commercial value.
  • Structure and optimize the sales process: manage leads, pipelines, follow-ups, and reporting in HubSpot.
  • Lead commercial negotiations and structure deals with clear value for clients and CarbonLeap.
  • Combine face-to-face and proactive outreach: attend events, organize meetings, and improve cold calling/email campaigns.
  • Represent CarbonLeap in the market: speak at events, write thought leadership pieces, and build our reputation as a trusted advisor.
  • Document and standardize processes: contribute to sales playbooks and best practices for current and future team members.
  • Collaborate closely with Commercial Managers to align client demand with our offerings.

About you

You are a structured, proactive, and commercially minded professional. You combine consultative selling skills with persistence, process discipline, and initiative, thriving in environments where building relationships and closing deals requires creativity, resilience, and strategy.

  • 3–7 years experience in consulting, sales, business development, or related fields
  • Proven ability to analyse trends, identify opportunities, and advise clients strategically
  • Experience structuring sales processes and managing pipelines in CRM tools like HubSpot
  • Strong sales mindset: comfortable hearing “no” multiple times and staying motivated to close opportunities
  • Skilled in relationship building through face-to-face events, cold outreach, and proactive engagement
  • Experience with commercial negotiation and deal structuring
  • Comfortable representing the company externally and contributing to thought leadership
  • Ability to document processes and develop sales playbooks for scalability
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in Dutch and English
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, start-up environment where you own initiatives end-to-end
